"Satan, he disguises himself as the Angel of light. I'm afraid that false light is here inside these walls," speaks Father Gabriel and we are faced with yet another brutal, brutal death as one of the gang falls. Is the Good Father right?
Abraham is assigned to a crew who is raiding a construction site for materials. In the midst of the raid, they are attacked by a herd of walkers. When Francine tumbles to the ground when her post is accidentally shot down, it is Abraham that runs to her aid when all the other men turn away. In epic Abraham escape style, he takes down the entire herd and then chastises the men for leaving her behind so quickly. He assumes leadership. The foreman goes to Deanna and tells her what happened and asks if Abraham could lead the crew. She accepts.
Sam, who seems to not be threatened at all by Carol, keeps showing up asking for cookies. She is very resistant to bonding with him and only pays attention when he asks for one of her guns but won't tell her who it's for. Upon visiting his parents, Pete and Jessie's house, she realizes that Pete beats them both. In taking this information to Rick, she tells him the only thing that he can do is kill Pete.
When a group is going off on a supply mission and they're saying goodbye to their loved ones and saying things like "come back, you always do" and "I love you, don't forget that" and then the music is "you are going to die," you can kind of figure something really bad is about to happen. And it certainly did. Aidan and Nicholas take Noah, Tara and Glenn on a run to find micro inverters to fix the power grid. Since Eugene is the only one who knows what to look for, they make him go to. At the solar warehouse, the group encounters a herd of walkers. When Aidan tries to fend off one in full body armor, he accidentally triggers a grenade. Aidan is impaled up against a fence and Tara is knocked out with blunt force head trauma. Eugene (finally) steps up and agrees to protect Tara while the others go try to save Aidan. But they can't and Nichols is NOT happy. Eugene grabs Tara and makes a break for it while Nicholas, Noah and Glenn get trapped in a revolving door. Thankfully, Eugene drives by and distracts the walkers, but Nicholas panics and breaks out leaving time for only one of the other two to escape... and it's Glenn. Noah is brutally killed in front of him on the other side of the glass. Glenn can do nothing but sit and watch. Brutal!
Back in Alexandria, Father Gabriel visits Deanna and tells her that Satan has taken the form of Rick and his crew and they are incredibly bad people.
WTF, Gabriel? I know you've been wrestling with your faith, but is this your decision? To rat out the people who have numerously saved you? I'm infuriated... and yet, he has a point. There is a chance that our crew is going over the edge and maybe they have passed the point of no return. Good thing Maggie was there to overhear his warning to Deanna. Gabriel, I'm not entirely sure this is the group you want to upset, especially if you're calling them Satan incarnate. But you witness something like Noah being torn apart in front of you, can you justify their behavior?
Really Carol? The ONLY solution is to kill Pete? I know there isn't a justice system anymore, but isn't that a bit extreme? Don't get me wrong, I want bad things to happen to Pete, but I'm not sure that is the ONLY solution. And Rick was totally on board! So is Father Gabriel all that off base?
And honestly? I know Eugene is a strange one, but he is also the only one who has admitted he's scared. I know over time you can get desensitized to things, but I think it's believable that there is at least one guy who's still legit terrified. I appreciate that about him and I appreciate that when his friend was in danger, he snapped out of it.
Poor, sweet Noah. That was so incredibly brutal and for Glenn to literally sit there behind the glass and watch. I hope he kicks the crap out of Nicholas. Although, Nicholas also just watched his best friend brutally murdered. AH! So many levels. I can't imagine Deanna is going to be pleased that she lost Aidan, but Glenn will mostly be focusing on Noah. These last two episodes seem like they're going to be ripe with confrontation and undoubtedly, way more death.
Most importantly, did Darryl shower? His appearance was so quick, but he looked really nice so good for him, I guess? He looked super happy to be back on a motorcycle. A brief, bright moment in such a dire episode.
