There are certain high risk situations that make you really question what type of person you are. Are you a flamethrower type? A gun type? A rigged camo colored truck type? What's your Boom Stick?
Having seen her parents killed, Kelly was going through her own personality change. When we first met her, she already seemed edgy, but the onslaught of madness and tragedy that she's witnessed has given Kelly a taste for revenge. Kelly is a flamethrower type.
On their way to find Lem (Peter Feeney), our threesome-turned-foursome (Amanda joined last week) stumbled upon a couple of mutilated bodies. One wasn't quite dead yet, and when Amanda tried to help him, the group was accosted by a group of camo clad survivalists. They believed there was conspiracy to poison the air supply, and that's what had turned Lem into the white eyed freak that was currently roaming the woods somewhere.
When Lem attacked their military style residence, Kelly and Pablo managed to escape. Amanda and Ash, however, were handcuffed together (cozy) and tossed into a dark basement. Not to worry: there was a flashlight built into Ash's new robo-hand. Score to Pablo for thinking ahead.
The two wandered through the labyrinthine basement, making small talk. Ash made sloppy, verbal sexual advances at Amanda, but now that she no longer thought he was the bringer of all demonic evil (although technically...) she seemed less put off by it. There was small talk. She apologized for thinking he was at fault. She explained that she'd met Ruby (Lucy Lawless) and it was she that convinced her that Ash was involved. Though she now thought that Ruby was mistaken, she was grateful that she had told her the truth about what was out there.
Last week Ruby was attacked by a smack-talking skeleton and they both went flying into a pit of fire. Tonight Ruby rose from the ground, completely nude and looking pretty good considering. She found clothes, her car and took off.
Hiding in the woods, Pablo lamented that Kelly seemed to know exactly what sort of person she was. She and I both thought this was going to turn into her having to shove him right back into the Friend Zone again. However, as our intro paragraph brought up, the world was changing and he needed to know where he stood and what weapon he'd brandish.
They thought they'd gotten a leg upon one of their misinformed survivalist pursuers, but they were wrong. Another showed up, and Kelly and Pablo were tied up and put into a truck. The camo guys were confronted by a deadite that killed them both, and almost got Kelly. Pablo managed to get control of the truck and smash him into a tree. Stuck between the back of the truck and the tree, the deadite looked just like the wife did in that one scene from SIGNS. Anyone? Anyway, Pablo wondered if he was a truck-guy. He's probably not.
The deadite wasn't completely dead. He lunged at Pablo. Kelly tried to shoot him with a gun almost as big as she. It was chaotic. Pablo begged her not to accidentally shoot him. The deadite was killed, Pablo grabbed his gas mask, and they headed back to the camp where they used trickery to overthrow the remaining survivalists. The SURVIVING survivalists. No.
Lem appeared in the basement full of one-liners and kerosene. He was ready to burn the place down. Amanda and Ash fought, ran, found a potential exit, lured Lem over, and took him out. Poor guy; he'd just gotten sober, too. Deadites ruin everything.
Ash and Amanda almost kissed. It was weird. Was it the right time for that? Granted, the undead were roaming the city. Who's to say what the right time is for anything? Pablo and Kelly freed them.
While tied to a fence, the survivalists were approached by one last deadite that was swiftly killed in a most badass fashion. Amanda gave them a knife to free themselves. They were ready to believe that something besides Big Brother was amiss.
In the end, Ash made a heartfelt statement to his friends, basically giving the kudos for staying alive. Amanda, Pablo, and Kelly started to walk away, but when they turned to ask Ash where the cabin was, he was gone.
What'd you think of tonight's episode? Did you like the final scene featuring the cabin and Ash's mobile, severed hand? Very ADDAMS FAMILY. When will Ash and Ruby meet up? How will Amanda, Pablo, and Kelly find him? What other dangers remain to be seen? Sound off in the comments below.
