Mommie Dearest, anyone? Oh wait, Joan Crawford was probably a better mother than Leah Walker. When I want to watch creepy mothers, I usually tune in to BATES MOTEL.

After Reporter Harper Scott revealed to Dre last week that Leah Walker, Lucious' mom, was alive and in a home, Dre decided to investigate and form a relationship with her. When Dre shows up with her to a rehearsal, Lucious almost has a breakdown. Apparently no one in the world scares Lucious Lyons aka Dwight Walker, but his Mama. And he cannot make anyone understand just how dangerous she is.

Yes, the Lyons family are now performing a family song at the (way too often talked about) ASA Awards show. Jamal and Hakeem are less than thrilled about it as it will eliminate their solo time on stage. Cookie strikes a deal with producer, D Major, to give them more stage time if they can come up with a scene stealing number. But D Major has other things on his mind, like I don't know, boning Jamal in the studio? Yes, D Major is a closet case, but Jamal can't hide his attraction to him. He is disappointed when D blows him off (intended) in public as he doesn't want to be a part of a secret relationship anymore.

When Lucious and Leah have a tender moment at the piano, he is reminded of a song from his childhood. He brings the song to the family where Hakeem and Jamal improvise the verse and vocals. They perform the song, "Chasing the Sky" for D Major and the company and it kills. D grants them a big performance spot on the award show. Jamal takes him aside and says he will try to handle the secrecy because he can't hide his attraction to D.

Hakeem's focus is laying down a track for the new Ryan Coogler film. It needs a female vocal solo in which he suggests Tiana instead of Laura. Tiana teases him about being whipped. Later, Laura confronts Hakeem and tells him that she doesn't trust Tiana who she believes is still into Hakeem. (And she's right... I thought Tiana was gay, no?)

Candace shows up at Empire to threaten, a fresh out of rehab, Carol, to get back to raising her kids. Carol begs her for more time as she is still adjusting to sobriety. When they meet for lunch, Carol tells Candace that she needs to confess to Cookie that she aided and abetted Lucious in a whole bunch of murders while Cookie was in jail. Overhearing this is an old friend of Carol's, Tariq, who just happens to be an FBI agent. Is this an in for the FBI to get Lucious back in jail?

Thirsty, meanwhile, handles Harper Scott by shoving her into the arms of two killers. He solves problems... his way. And Ronda, finally, realizes what we've all known for months that she was not only pushed down the stairs, it was her new bestie, Anika who did it.

Well, I gotta say, "Chasing the Sky" is one of the first songs this season I have truly enjoyed and downloaded right away. And that was a real nice, genuine moment Lucious had with his family telling them he does appreciate and love them despite their differences.

Jamal's new love interest is interesting. Since we saw Michael last week, I thought he was going to be back in the picture. Laura is completely right to be suspicious of Tiana, however, I have NO idea what her game is.

And Ronda, what is she going to do with this information? Her new and only best friend is responsible for the death of her child and is now carrying one of her own. Will this push Dre over the edge? Does Ronda seek vengeance on her own? Or is it gonna be a "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" situation? #datedreference

And lastly, Leah forcing Lucious/Dwight to eat in the middle of the night while she holds a knife near him was creepy, even if a tad melodramatic. We get it, he's scared of her. Nice going Harper Scott, you better watch your ba... oh right. #thirsty
