Last week on FOX's SLEEPY HOLLOW, the trio-Abbie, Ichabod and the Captain- teamed up to trap the Headless Horseman. They succeeded in chaining him up in an underground cell with a bunch of UV light shining on him, leaving him weak and vulnerable.

This episode picks up right where we left off: Abbie and Ichabod share a fist bump over their accomplishment, which Ichabod t

hinks is totally ridiculous. The two make their way to the viewing room to stare at the Horseman from behind glass and...I'm not exactly sure what. Admire his admittedly awesome wardrobe? Decide what to do next? Probably the latter.

Abbie warns that this is only the beginning. They've already encountered witches, demons and sandmen and there are sure to be more Supernatural beings on their way. Ooo fun, our very own Hellmouth right in New York! Take that, Sunnydale.

Ichabod reasons that the Horseman knows what's coming next so why not interrogate him like any other prisoner? Uh, Ichabod, we can see that those two hundred years underground didn't harm your good looks in the slightest but did it maybe damage your brain a bit? The Horseman can't exactly speak. He's lacking a very essential bit of anatomy for the production of sound.

Well, if he won't talk to them (because he can't!) then maybe he'll talk to someone who is already dead. Time for them to call in their resident dead guy: Andy Brooks. Ichabod thinks he'll help them because he's got (totally unrequited) feelings for Abbie. Ichabod really likes pointing out how everyone is in love with Abbie, doesn't he?

The captain is sent to find Abbie's sister, Jenny, who has just been released from the psychiatric hospital. Meanwhile Abbie and Ichabod are off to find Andy where they last saw him: in some part of the tunnels. Andy's living quarters are so dismal that they almost make us feel bad for him, although we're sure the feeling won't last. The guy is working for the nightmarish horned demon afterall.

Andy wasn't at home so Abbie and Ichabod take that as their cue to rummage around in his belongings. The guy might technically be dead, but isn't that still a little rude, guys? In their digging, Ichabod happens across some Egyptian hieroglyphs, which is right about when Andy decides to pop back in. Since Andy is the Necromancer, or the Horseman's voice, they decide to force him to be their mediator when they interrogate the Horseman.

The Captain is called away to a crime scene and decides Jenny will be helpful so he brings her along. When they arrive they realize the robbery was staged as the thieves left all the money in the register and all the most expensive jewelry in the cases. Jenny, who used to work at the store, takes the Captain through a super secret door, behind which is a hidden room. In the room they find the owner of the store, Adams, who has been shot. Adams is safe but gone is the object that can be used to break the hexspell, which is exactly what was helping keep the Horseman imprisoned. But who would want to release the Horseman on the poor, unsuspecting world? The Hessians, of course Remember those German guys that work for the Horseman? They're back and ready to serve.

During the interrogation of the Horseman, Ichabod knocks off some necklace that, according to the Necromancer, belonged to Katrina. The necklace was given to her, we learn, not by Ichabod, but by his best friend, who happened to be engaged to Katrina at the time. Well, we know how that turned out. The Horseman is trying to work Ichabod up with the necklace as he seems to have a serious grudge against Ichabod and won't rest until him and everyone he loves is dead. Things get heated when the Horseman brings up Abraham, Ichabod's former best friend.

A bomb goes off at the power grid, throwing all of Sleepy Hollow, including the place they're interrogating the Horseman, into darkness. Thankfully Abbie and Ichabod get creative and use candles, but the Horseman is still getting stronger. Abbie makes Ichabod confess the story about his best friend because obviously it's a sore spot, and one the Horseman could potentially use to his advantage.

FLACKBACK

Ichabod and Abraham have been sent on a mission to deliver the Declaration of Resolves, a precursor to the Declaration of Independence. This is the moment Ichabod decides to tell his best friend that his ex-fiance is actually in love with him and they want to run away together. Not that there's ever a good time to tell your best friend something like that but in The Middle of a top secret mission just seems especially bad. The heartbroken Abraham challenges him to a duel, but it's cut short when Abraham is shot. He yells at Ichabod to leave him to their enemies' mercy and Ichabod acquiesces, as he still has his mission to complete.

END FLASHBACK

Abbie's talking sense and says that Ichabod can't face their adversary when he's so hurt and angry and Ichabod freaks out on her because he's, well, hurt and angry.

The Captain has called for cover at all entry points to the cell so no Hessians can get in. The Hessians would need to be inside to say the spell to free the Horseman so they think they've got their bases covered. What they didn't count on was Brooks pulling an object out of a gash in his side, to perform a spell to summon demons of Moloch, who start attacking the Captain and Abbie and her sister. Brooks did warn them that his soul is no longer his own and that when he's around the Horseman he doesn't have any control over his actions. Oops.

Brooks' spell frees the Horseman, but instead of just cutting off Ichabod's head like usual, he instead challenges him to a duel. Alright then. This makes a lot more sense when Ichabod realizes that the Horseman is in fact Abraham! Plot twist! Ichabod had seen him die, but in reality Moloch had turned him into his own personal henchman. Just when it looks like all is lost, Brooks, in a display of surprising loyalty, takes his demons and vanishes with the Horseman in tow, saying his master has Forbidden the Horseman to kill Ichabod.

Let's get this straight: So, the Horseman, who is actually Ichabod's ex-best friend, does have a weakness. And that weakness is Ichabod's wife. Not only does Abraham/the Horseman still hold a grudge against Ichabod, he also still loves Katrina and thinks she belongs to him. Or more specifically her soul does, which is why she's trapped in purgatory. This is turning into quite the soap opera. Only with more demons and gore and stuff.

Why did Moloch spare Ichabod? And will Katrina return to help defeat the Horseman? Tune in next week to see if we find out! Sleepy Hollow airs Mondays at 9/8 c on FOX.
