The holidays are upon us - parties, eggnog, shopping, decorations... and, naturally, some Wesen to ruin all the fun. I guess a Grimm just doesn't get time off for Christmas.

As we open this week's episode, we see a holiday party in full swing. The guests discover a heavy, wrapped gift outside when the bell rings, but it's brought in and quickly forgotten. When the party is over, however, a few little goblin-esque creatures pop out of the box and begin destroying everything in sight before dragging the man of the house, Dennis Gladstone, down the hall. When Nick and Hank arrive Wu fills them in on the details and Mrs. Gladstone points out the box that had arrived and is now empty. The two question Mr. Gladstone in the hospital, who reports hairy little beasts running amok in his living room.

We remember how much Monroe loves to decorate for Christmas, right? As Monrosalee laugh like schoolchildren over an antique train set, Monroe slyly drops an envelope onto one of the cars for Rosalee to pick up, and with some happy tears she reads an invitation to join her new husband for a belated honeymoon. Finally! With everything that's happening, those crazy kids need to get away for a while, hopefully without being followed by the group that's been attacking them.

Speaking of that mess, Hank, Nick, and Trubel spend some time researching in the trailer and uncover a few possibilities. While they're occupied Josh has a talk with Juliette, discussing what it was like having a Grimm for a father and what Juliette has to deal with because of Nick. Later, Josh is woken by Trubel attempting to sneak out and convinces her to take him along. She's busy peering into a house when caught by a Wesen, but before he can attack Josh knocks him out from behind. Welcome to the team, Josh! The Wesen's name turns out to be Big Johnson, by the way - and that's all I can really say about that. They find a mask on him and take it back to Nick, then head out with Bud to get more information on Big and his group - looks like we know who's angry about the Monrosalee union.

Nick and Hank map out the recent home invasions, noting a church in the middle of the pattern. No worries - that seemingly minor detail will come into play later on. Sean pulls Nick aside to let him know Elizabeth is looking for Kelly and the baby. They agree they don't want any violence between their mothers and move on to discuss Wu, but are then interrupted by Hank, who reports another invasion in progress. They arrive in time to see the little creeps dismantling a lawn display and are attacked by one after it falls off the roof. Hank knocks it out and confirms he could see its real form, which makes them wonder if it is a Wesen after all. Naturally they take it to Monrosalee's winter wonderland, and Juliette meets them there with an animal tranquilizer. Monroe describes the creature's scent as a "pungent, vinegarish, glandular, musky kind of chamber pot." If that doesn't give you a nose-visual, I don't know what will.

Rosalee actually doesn't know what it is, nor does Monroe, so off to the trailer they go to find some answers. They discover the creatures are called Kallikantzaroi and are a type of Wesen children going through puberty during the twelve days of Christmas. They also discover the way to defeat the creatures - fruitcake. Apparently if they eat enough of it they'll go into a fruitcake coma and wake up normal. So... there's that. I'm at a loss. Was this episode written just to give fruitcake a purpose in life, other than being the punchline of a million holiday jokes?

Juliette and Rosalee spend some girl time together and discuss the possibility of a pregnancy occurring during her time as Adalind, but are interrupted by noises from outside - naturally, the Kallikantzaroi they were storing there has escaped and reunited with his friends, and as the little guys love to destroy Christmas decorations Monroe's house is really the worst place for them to be. The ladies knock out two of them, momentaritly anyway, but they end up going after the trains just as Monroe comes home. He goes all Blutbad on them, scaring them away, and they scatter. Y'all don't mess with a grown man's trains.

Trubel, Josh, and Bud are working on their list when Nick and Juliette return home and point out the names of the people who appear to be involved with the hate group. Meanwhile, Monrosalee find a medical alert bracelet while cleaning up and give it to Nick, who takes Hank to track down the owner. They speak to the parents of one of the Kallikantzaroi, who are upset to learn their little asthmatic John has been sneaking out to wreak havoc on the town. Hank and Nick borrow a truck full of fruitcake on the way to the church where the creatures - in child form - are expected to be, according to the parents. The very church in the center of the home invasions, of course. See, I told you that detail would have a purpose, just as the fruitcake now does. The truck full of fruitcake, legitimately placed just where it was needed on the exact day one might need a metric ton of fruitcake. Christmas miracles do happen, folks.

At any rate, in the midst of the choir concert the three boys are performing in they turn into Kallikantzaroi and freak out the entire congregation as they begin to tear up the church, but they soon discover the truck and are easily trapped. When the gang dares to open the door and check on the little monsters, they are children once more. Because, you know, fruitcake.

Finally, after telling Josh more about Wesen and listening as he expresses his desire to take his life back, Trubel tells Nick she's leaving. Not just the weekly dramatic threat, but the real thing this time. She wants to help Josh get home, and Nick gives her his blessing as well as Aunt Marie's car and a teary good-bye. I really hope she comes back soon - I have come to like Trubel quite a bit. I wasn't sure in the beginning, but I've been pleased with how the character has grown and what the actress brings to the part. Well done, Jacqueline Toboni.

Before we can sniffle too long, we see Juliette reading the results of her pregnancy test - of course, we don't get to see said results, but it's kind of a lot of drama for a negative result. Perhaps next week we'll find out - but guess what we DO get to see. WU FINDS OUT! Well, it's hinted at, anyway. Apparently Nick will be facing some nasty beasts in the next episode and tells Wu at one point that what he saw was real. Do it, Nick! Bring Wu into the fold!
