How is this season so good? We're only three episodes in and I'm already dreading the end! Also, and believe me, I feel real weird asking this question, but... how hot is Jesus?
Yes, Jesus easily escaped his restraints last week and barged in on Rick and Michonne. As the crew sat him down, he explained that he lived in a nearby community. He has assessed that they were all good people and their communities could help each other. Justifiably skeptical, Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Abraham and Jesus pile into the RV to check out Jesus' lair. On the way there, they come across a fatal accident filled with Jesus' people. Convinced it is a trap, Maggie holds a gun on Jesus while the rest enter a nearby building and save four members of Jesus community. One just happens to be an obstetrician, Harlan, which is music to Glenn and Maggie's ears as they've been worried about the baby growing. Upon arrival at the hilltop, Jesus vouches for the gang and introduces them to everyone including their cult-like leader, Gregory. (Guest Star Xander Berkeley). Rick encourages Maggie to talk to Gregory as Rick would more than likely punch him in the face. Maggie attempts to negotiate a co-op with Gregory using the skills Deanna bestowed upon her, but Gregory just isn't having it. When more members of the community return from a confrontation with Negan, they deliver a message. It seems that our dear Negan and his gang the Saviors live nearby and they basically take half of the Hilltop's supply in exchange for not killing them. When tested, he... well, kills people. In this case, Negan has taken Craig hostage. Craig's brother, Ethan delivers Negan's message which just happens to be stabbing Gregory in the stomach. Apparently, for Craig's release, Negan requested Gregory's head. He's sweet, looking forward to meeting him. Rick and crew easily take Ethan down and overpower the rest. Since they don't seem to have a problem with confrontation, they offer to go and take on Negan in exchange for half of The Hilltop's supplies and livestock. Maggie convinces Gregory (who's kind of a wank, imho...) to agree to the deal. It's interesting that killing people and violence is such a part of Rick and Daryl's life that they don't give it a second thought. It's always fascinating to see them through someone else's eyes.
Abraham is having some moments trying to decide whether or not to fully commit to being with Sasha or to keep it casual with Rosita. After nearly dying at the Hilltop, he pretty much makes his decision to try with Sasha. (Anyone else rooting for Rosita and Eugene?)
And at the end, Dr. Harlan present Glenn and Maggie with a sonogram which they pass around to the crew in the RV to remind them what it's all about after all.
So we're still in that trajectory toward a confrontation with Negan, which I am SO excited for, but it is nice to meet another very different community in the Hilltop gang. I don't know what to make of Gregory. I love me some Xander Berkeley though so I'm glad he survived the stabbing attack.
Comedy ensued when everyone entered Rick's house and found he and Michonne half naked. The look on Abraham and Glenn's faces were priceless. But not Daryl. Daryl is a soldier and even though he probably noticed Richonne, he never took his eyes of Jesus.
But if it is comedy we speak of, then the award goes to Abraham for three KILLER lines in this episode:
To Glenn, wondering if he and Maggie planned her pregnancy - When you were pouring Bisquick, were you trying to make pancakes?
To Glenn relaying that he wasn't interested in procreating - When I see rain coming, I'm wearing galoshes.
To Daryl regarding Richonne - How long you think Rick and Michonne been ugging bumplies?
Bravo, Abraham... bravo!
Anywho, this is a super bad idea sneaking up on Negan with barely any information no? But then... I do so love bad ideas. Again... how unbelievably hot is Jesus???? #hotjesus #congratsleo
