Tonight we lost a werewolf and gained a father. There were plenty of surprises in New Orleans tonight and did they really just make us change our opinion of Esther? Really? Let's see what our favorite supernatural group outside of Mystic Falls and Beacon Hills is up to.

The Wolves - It turns out that Oliver also got captured when Elijah did and Vincent/Finn is planning on making an example out of him as he shall be executed at midnight. Hayley's plan is to reunite the wolves by finding their Alpha. (Where's Scott McCall when you need him?) In the woods, she comes across a hunter, Hansell, who it turns out is protecting Jackson. Yup, he's alive, but he isn't interested in saving Oliver after being betrayed. Hansell goes with Hayley and takes on the wolves at the graveyard. Hayley rescues Oliver and he gives a Jeff Winger type speech to prompt the wolves to release him. When he reunites with Jackson, he apologizes and tells him to be the Alpha and then dies as promised by Vincent/Finn.
The Vamps & Humans - Cami is still using Vincent/Finn as her therapist, but when he orders her favorite drink without asking her, she figures out he isn't what he seems. Marcel reveals to her that Vincent is actually Klaus' brother, Finn. She decides to use herself as a pawn to distract Vincent/Finn and aid in rescuing Elijah and help Klaus. Gia and Marcel aid Hayley in the rescue. Gia is injured and Marcel cures her with Klaus' blood. Cami reveals to Marcel that she thinks Vincent/Finn likes her and if she is his weakness, he is vulnerable.

The Mikelsons - Well, the Mikelsons sure had a week, huh? Elijah is still being held hostage and Klaus is determined to free him. He has a confrontation with Esther who again pleads with him to let her cure him. After he refuses, she tells him (through flashbacks) about his real father. It seems after the oldest sibling, Freya, died, Mikel was inconsolable so Esther had an affair. She didn't tell Mikel that Klaus wasn't his and he loved him and they went on to have Kol, Rebekah and Henrik. Klaus tells her that Mikel is back and Kol knew which shows Esther's vulnerability. She releases Elijah to him, even though he's still in a coma of sorts. Klaus runs into Hansell when he's rescuing Elijah and realizes that Hansell IS HIS FATHER! Esther brought him back to try and give Elijah a real father/son relationship. Klaus still isn't buying it. In the final moments, we learn that Esther has a sister, Dahlia who helped Esther get pregnant with Freya. The deal was that Dahlia would claim the first born of the Mikelson family for all generations. So Freya didn't die, Dahlia took her. And once Dahlia realizes that Hope didn't die, she will return.

So Esther and Vincent/Finn were trying to protect the baby, not take it. This place is nuts! How Oprah has never done a Mikelson episode is beyond me. So now Klaus not only has to deal with Mikel, but Hansell too. And I can't imagine Hansell and Mikel are going to want to go grab a coffee. All right, ORIGINALS, you pulled me back in!

What I Know:

  • Marcel's apartment is actually kind of cool. I wonder what it would go for at market price?

  • I detected a little chemistry between Marcel and Gia, no?

  • Is there a chance for Hayley and Jackson? (Still rooting for you, Elijah)

What I Don't Know:

  • With all his sorcery and magic, Vincent/Finn seriously doesn't see Cami's game?

  • So is Freya alive too? They weren't kidding when they said they had a big family, sheesh.

  • If Freya is alive, would it be enough to repair Mikel as well?

Lines I Love:

  • Klaus - I'm sorry, is this some sort of motherly critique? Feel free to choke on it.

  • Klaus - Nothing says I loathe you quite like desecrating a corpse.

  • Cami - To be honest, not the worst date I've had in this city.

So now, I am kind of feeling for Esther. Is that weird? But we know that in her own, twisted way, she's been trying to protect her family and give them normal lives. That's going to mess with Klaus' head a lot I'm sure. Wait until Elijah wakes up and gets caught up on all the latest drama.
