Ollie (Stephen Amell) contemplates the offer from Ra's Al Ghul (Matt Nable) as Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Thea (Willa Holland) bond over their mutual daddy issues in tonight's ep, "The Offer." Eyes on the target, we'll get you caught up.
We pick up right were we left off: Ra's has asked Ollie to become the new Ra's Al Ghul. He frees Ollie and leaves him to think about the offer. Meetings are scheduled with HR to go over benefits. I kid.
And Thea has just confessed to Nyssa Al Ghul (Katrina Law) that she is the one who killed Sarah, opened Nyssa's cage and handed Nyssa her sword so that she might extract her vengeance. Nyssa doesn't believe her. Thea begs her to kill her. Laurel and Roy (Colton Haynes) enter the lair, see that Nyssa is free and try to subdue her. Laurel again gets her butt handed to her. Roy gets knocked back, but manages to grab a tranquilizer gun and Nyssa finally goes down.
Ollie's tour continues with Ra's showing him the Lazarus Pit (basically a suped-up hot tub containing waters that heal and grant immortality to those who bath in them). Sure beats the gym at my work. If they have a cafeteria underwritten by Ra's Al Ghul, Inc. I think Ollie should submit to the drug test and go on that final interview. I kid. Everyone knows Ra's doesn't have a cafe. Assasins brown bag it and eat at their desks.
Ra's actually explains that the waters only work for so long. He's taken one too many dips and they aren't having quite the restorative power they once had.
Ollie doesn't say 'no.' As a gesture of good faith, Ra's allows Ollie to return home with Diggle (David Ramsey) and Malcolm (John Barrowman).
Thea is less than thrilled when Ollie drops Malcolm off at the loft they share so he can heal. Ollie returns to Team ARROW and frees Nyssa, telling her to go home. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and the rest of the team aren't happy that Malcom is still alive, either.
A robbery in progress puts the reunion on hold. This week's villain is Michael Amar (aka Murmur, played by Adrian Glynn McMorran). In the comics, Murmur usually hangs around Central City (the home of THE FLASH), ARROW has kept his signature feature (his mouth is sewn shut).
ARROW, Arsenal and Black Canary descend. Canary still sucks at fighting (Ollie tells her she still needs training). Murmur gets away. ARROW pays a visit to Captain Lance (Laurel's father, played by Paul Blackthorne). He refuses to give ARROW any information; he's pissed that ARROW didn't tell him Sarah was dead, Lance tells ARROW he's done working with him.
Ollie later pays a visit to Felicity at her day job to find her somewhat cosy with her boss Ray Palmer (aka The Atom, played by Brandon Routh). Felicity makes quick work of identifying Murmur. Ollie confesses he feels guilty for not telling Lance about his daughter's death.
Nyssa returns to her father and confronts her father about Malcolm's release. She is also pissed that he has selected Ollie as his replacement over her (his own daughter). She leaves her father and possibly the League of Assasins.
Back at Team ARROW, we learn that Murmur stole industrial grade diamonds that aren't worth anything, leaving real gems behind. Ollie finally shares with Diggle Ra's offer. Diggle is surprised that Ollie is even considering it.
Back at the loft, Thea leaves "to go by my evil dad some soup" leaving Ollie to discuss the offer with Malcolm. Malcolm explains that there is a prophecy that a man who survives Ra's blade will become Ra's. Oh, and Ra's doesn't make offers, he gives orders.
In the lair, Felicity confronts Ollie about the offer. She thinks he's insane for considering it. "They're called 'The League of Assasins,'" she tells him. "That is not the name of a nice group." Oh, Felicity!
Roy and Diggle return. Roy has some intel: the diamonds are used to make diamond-tipped bullets (the kind that go through body armor). Seems Murmur is going to get payback on the cops who beat the false confession out of him. Felicity tries to warn Captain Lance, but he sends the call to voicemail.
Laurel stops by his office with some lunch as a peace offering. He isn't interested. Just then, Murmur and his crew begin a seige on the precinct, killing every cop they come across. Captain Lance orders his daughter to run. Which she does, running right into one of Murmur's men. Before the guy can pull the trigger, he takes an arrow to his back. Nyssa has come to the rescue.
She is soon joined by ARROW and Aresenal. It's an epic fight with ARROW saving Captain Lance. "What are you waiting around for? A 'thank you'," Lance asks ARROW. "That's not why I do this," ARROW replies, shooting an arrow and zipping out of sight.
Back at the Lair, Ollie tells Felicity she was right. He needed to figure out why he was doing what he is doing. The citizens of the city are counting on him. He's taking a pass on Ra's offer.
Back at the precinct, Laurel leaves to find Nyssa waiting for her. Seems she is missing Laurel's sister, has heard that Laurel has some daddy issues (something she knows a thing or two about) and offers to listen. Laurel agrees to talk, offering to buy dinner. Being with Nyssa reminds her of her sister, too. Nyssa compliments her on her fighting techniques, but she could still learn a few things. Laurel agrees to let Nyssa teach her.
Ollie lets Maseo (Karl Yune) know he is declining Ra's' offer. Maseo warns him there will be consequences.
Thea shows up at Roy's apartment. They kiss and are apparently a thing now.
The remaining group of Murmur's army are playing pool at their hideout. One guy mentions the cops think they won, but they still are in possession of those bullets. Arrows rain down, killing all but one guy. A man in a green ARROW costume descends down and tells the survivor to go and tell what happened. The camera pans up. It isn't Ollie, but Ra's Al Ghul, mascarading at ARROW to ruin what little good reputation Ollie has. I loved seeing the softer side of Nyssa. Thoughts on tonight's ep?
