Barry comes face to face with the man who killed his mom on tonight's mid-season finale, "The Man in the Yellow Suit." Let's get you up to speed!

We open on Barry (Grant Gustin, sans his FLASH suit) running neck in neck with the man in the yellow suit who killed Barry's mom all those year's ago.

Not so fast, say the writers. We flash back to one day prior. Barry is helping Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) trim the Christmas tree. Barry chides West for going so slow and in a blur quickly has the entire tree decorated (while you do my house next, Barry. I kid. The tree's been up since Thanksgiving). Since Joe isn't happy, Barry quickly undoes the trimming. Iris (Candice Patton) enters with Grandma Esther's egg nog and proclaims "light on the bourbon." Iris, I hate you already.

Joe gets called into work. Barry and Iris exchange gifts. He got her a replica of her mother's wedding band that she lost on a fifth grade field trip. She gives him a microscope. Det. Pretty Boy Thawne (Rick Cosnett) arrives and doesn't seem too surprised that Barry gave Iris a wedding ring for Christmas.

The Christmas cheer continues at S.T.A.R. labs where Barry presents Team Flash (Carlos Valdes as Cisco. Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin and Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells) with Christmas gifts. Wells doesn't like to be reminded of Christmas as that is when the particle accelerator blew up last year. I guess he put the Ho Ho Ho in Hazmat.

Back in the coffee shop where Iris works where also seems to spend all of her free time, Eddie states the obvious: He thinks Barry likes her and counters Barry's gift with a key to his apartment.

At the mall where she is buying some last minute gifts, Caitlin catches the reflection of her deceased fiance Ronnie (aka Firestorm, played by Robbie Amell) in her car window as she is about to unlock her door. She turns, but he has already gone. She quickly catches up to him and he turns and flames into Firestorm. It's hard to tell if she is more freaked by the fact that he isn't dead or that he can turn himself on and off like a candle. -

In another sciene lab in the city, Zoom (aka the man in the yellow suit) kills two guards as a scientist looks on in horror. He later tells Barry, Eddie and West what he saw. Eddie is convinced it's THE FLASH, though the color of the suit (yellow) is wrong. Turns out the rival lab is run by Tina McGee (Amanda Pays, who also played a character of the same name on the 1990 THE FLASH series). Barry and Wells approach her about borrowing a piece of technology they think Zoom might be after. She isn't ready to turn over one of her prototypes to a competitor, though.

Iris confronts Barry about what Eddie said. Barry lies and says he doesn't have feelings for her. She leaves. He stares out the window. There is a thunderstorm reminscent of the one a year ago that gave him his powers. There is a flash of light and Barry sees Zoom on the rooftop across the street. And the chase is on.

It would appear that Barry forgot all that ARROW attempted to impart to him in our crossover eps. Acting impulsively, he follows Zoom into a stadium and has his butt handed to him but Zoom.

Back at the Lab, Cisco is putting the finishing touches on a force field they will use to trap Zoom. They just need something to lure Zoom into it. Barry again asks McGee for her device. She again refuses. Barry threatens to leak some of the secrets he saw while investigating the original murders to a science magazine. She relents and tells him that Wells and he are a lot like. My guess is this is all a ploy by Wells to get his hands on the tech. Prove me wrong, writers. Prove me wrong.

Cisco and Caitlin, meanwhile have been moonlighting. She has had him track down Ronnie. Ronnie tells them he isn't Ronnie anymore, but rather Firestorm. He ignites himself and leaves.

Back at the West house, Barry comes clean aobut his feelings for Iris. It's awkward. She cries.

At the lab, Zoom gets caught in the trap. It seems a little bit too easy. Eddie, West and the police surround him. He breaks through the containment, grabs Wells and beats the crap out of him. Barry arrives for round two and again gets his butt handed to him. Firestorm arrives and with knows Zoom off of Barry, saving him. Firestorm tells Caitlin not to look for him again and then flies off.

It's a small holiday party at the West home. Caitlin and Cisco are there. Iris is sitting on Eddie's lap. Barry and Joe arrive home. Cisco pulls Joe aside. He mentions that when Barry and Zoom were fighting there were streaks of red and yellow. Barry mentioned as a child seeing both red and yellow streaks when his mom was killed. This means two speedsters were present the night his mom died.

Final moment: Wells is in his secret room at S.T.A.R. labs. He puts on a ring that has lightning bold icon on it. He taps the wall. The wall parts. It's the Zoom costume. He smiles as he puts McGee's prototype on the suit and says "Merry Christmas."

Wells is Reverse Flash and somehow managed to beat himself up. Let's see how the writers explain this when the show returns Jan. 20.
