In this week's episode of SUPERGIRL, Kara faces off against Maxwell Lord's Superclone, while she also tries to navigate how to be in a relationship and be SUPERGIRL at the same time.

The episode opens with Maxwell Lord injecting something into his clone of Supergirl, who then comes to life with creepy black depthless eyes. (Honestly, I may have nightmares tonight.) He lovingly talks to the girl, telling her, "Together we won't just change the world, we'll change the meaning of life itself."

Back at the office, Cat is being strangely nice to Kara since she's going on a date with Adam. She even gets her own latte and brings one for Kara too...is this an alternate universe or something? When Kara suggests that maybe the SUPERGIRL menacing National City isn't the real deal during a staff meeting, Cat even decides to use that angle in her media coverage.

Kara convinces Winn to talk to her again by intriguing him with the idea of the Superclone. While Kara, Winn, and James meet (aww, the Superfriends are back together!), she gets a text from Adam which makes the boys suspicious. Clearly, neither of them are comfortable with the idea of Kara dating someone else...is everyone on this show in love with Kara Danvers?

Another shocking scene from Maxwell Lord's evil factory shows him administering shock treatment to his creation to teach her that SUPERGIRL is the enemy. Seriously disturbing.

Kara and Adam are sickeningly cute on their date. It's no wonder Melissa Benoist and Blake Jenner have amazing chemistry; they're married in real life. Adam tells Kara, "You're different, Kara. You see people, you understand them." #swoon

But when Kara sees on the news that people are in danger, she has to ditch the date to protect National City. Of course, Bizarro (as Cat Grant has named her) shows up and attacks Supergirl. Later, Kara is clearly bothered by how similar Maxwell Lord's creation is to her. "Except for the fact that she talks like Cookie Monster, she is exactly like me," she quips.

Winn reveals that he found seven Jane Does who match Kara's height and coloring that have gone to Maxwell Lord's company. Kara is horrified at the idea that Max destroyed seven lives to make his creation.

Meanwhile, Max is fixing the damage SUPERGIRL did to Bizarro. She is clearly confused: "You say SUPERGIRL bad, but SUPERGIRL help people." This scene reminded me of Frankenstein and his monster a bit. Max demands, "Who do you love: SUPERGIRL or me?" #creepy

Alex goes to Max's office to tell him that she knows he's behind Bizarro. His explains his plan to her...and asks if she and SUPERGIRL are more than "work buddies." He threatens her, which clearly was a bad choice. Why would you think threatening a badass woman like Alex Danvers would turn out okay for you?

Kara is still concerned about Bizarro, who Alex calls "one of Max's deranged Science projects." Kara insists, "She's not the villain here, she's the victim." She's considering cancelling her rescheduled date with Adam, but her sister reminds her that there will never be good timing for dating.

James and Winn further their bromance by drinking together to "drown our sorrows." Winn tells James that he could be with Kara if he wanted to and questions why he hasn't made a move. When James protests that he has a girlfriend, Winn tells him, "Nobody wants to be in a relationship with somebody that wants someone else." Really, Winn? Because I seem to remember you wanting to be with Kara even though she clearly has a crush on James...

While on a walk, Kara reveals to Adam that her parents died when she was young. He tells her, "No one ever feels normal" and then they share a sweet kiss. Well, until Bizarro swoops in to ruin things and take Kara away to a field to fight. Kara tries to reason with her, but the two duel it out until the DEO shows up and fires Krypton arrows at Bizarro. She falls, but the Krypton corrupts her body and she flies away.

Kara, more determined than ever to take down Maxwell Lord, breaks things off with Adam. She tells him that clearly the universe doesn't want them to be together. He insists, "I know what you've been through and I get it, but not everyone is going to leave you." Oww, my poor heart.

Max tells Bizarro that SUPERGIRL turned her into a monster and tells her to take away everyone SUPERGIRL loves. James tries to comfort Kara about Adam, but she tells him to leave her alone and goes back inside. Bizarro snatches James from the balcony and flies away with him.

Alex has hit her BREAKING POINT and arrests Maxwell Lord. He threatens to tell the world that Kara Danvers is SUPERGIRL if she doesn't let him go, but she takes him to DEO headquarters. Hank is furious that she would compromise their mission, but Alex tells him, "He is compromising the security of my family."

In the warehouse where she took him, James tries to get Bizarro to talk to him. She reveals that she took him because SUPERGIRL loves him. When James asks how she knew that, she simply responds, "Supergirl and me same." James tells Bizarro that what's on the outside doesn't matter, it's the choices people make that determine their worth. He says, "I love [Kara] because of who she is, because she's brave, because she's kind, and she always tries to do the right thing." After eleven episodes of tension, it was wonderful to hear James admit to loving Kara!

James summons SUPERGIRL with his watch and Kara flies to the warehouse to battle Bizarro. Alex manages to shoot her down with a special bullet. Back at DEO headquarters, Bizarro apologizes to Kara who holds her hand while they put her down. "She didn't deserve what happened to her," Kara tells Alex and Hank. I think that my favorite thing about Kara Danvers is how truly good she is and how much she believes in others' goodness.

For me, the biggest blow of the episode wasn't Kara breaking things off with Adam; it was Cat telling Kara that she thinks their relationship should be "strictly professional." I love the friendship that Cat and Kara were developing and I hope that it can somehow get back on track. I think Kara needs a mature female influence in her life.

Who else is worried about the strange plant that attacked Kara? Intrigued to see how the Kara/James/Lucy love triangle will develop? Relieved that Maxwell Lord is finally behind bars?
