On SUPERGIRL's exciting Season 2 premiere, she finally teams up with her cousin Superman to fight crime together. This episode brought new characters, surprising plot twists, difficult decisions, and exciting new dynamics. This was the perfect season premiere because it put several new plot lines into action that will likely unfold over the course of the new season.

After an new extended intro sequence, the episode picked up where the season finale left off: with Kara and J'onn chasing after a pod that is hurtling towards Earth. They manage to land it safely and Kara is perplexed because it looks just like hers. They find a man inside whom they bring back to a gorgeous new DEO.

The man is comatose and they're struggling to find anything out about him because he's not human and isn't reacting well to their tests. Kara is convinced that he's from Krypton, so J'onn asks Winn to help by translating the pod's log.

When Kara tells Alex That she has her first date with James that night, Alex's sister intuition tells her that something isn't right. She accuses Kara of faking her excitement for the date, but Kara is saved by Cat summoning her to the office.

Cat has called Kara in to ask if she's made any decisions about what she wants her role at CatCo to be. When Kara tells her that an online quiz said she should go into marketing, Cat is disgusted. "A calling is something that is within you," she advises Kara. Meanwhile, she's not doing well with her new assistant. When Kara points out that the girl went to Yale, Cat quips, "So did George Bush." I've missed Cat since last season.

James shows up to Kara's apartment for their date with pizza and potstickers (honestly, my kind of man). He urges her to turn on the coverage for a luxury space ship called Venture that is launching since he knows she loves the space program. Of course, the spaceship has an explosion and Kara has to rush off to save it. This is SUPERGIRL after all.

And then, the moment we've all been waiting for...we get our first glimpse of Clark Kent! I absolutely love Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, right down to his iconic glasses. Both he and Kara fly to the spaceship, where he asks, "Need a hand?" I love that in no way did Superman question Supergirl's ability to save the spaceship on her own; he simply offered his help. Together, the two land it safely in a field. One of my favorite moments in the whole episode was when Kara gleefully tells a family that approaches them, "I used to change his diapers!"

When Kara brings Clark back to the DEO, he shakes hands and greets people like a celebrity. True to character, Winn absolutely falls apart in front of him; I loved how he practically whimpered, "Ohhh he's coming towards me." But there's a strange tension between J'onn and Clark that worries Alex.

Kara has brought Clark to see the mystery man that they found in the pod. Winn announces that he translated the pod's data log and found out that he passed through the Wall of Stars, which Kara says would have kept the man from aging.

J'onn would rather focus on investigating the explosion on the Venture, which he thinks might have been foul play. He clearly doesn't want Clark to help, but Kara offers for him to do some journalistic investigating. She brings him into the office at CatCo the next day and his reunion with James warmed my heart. Cat is indignant that Kara never mentioned knowing Clark Kent before and begins to flirt with him. You really can't blame her, but I still wasn't ready for that!

A pparently, there was one person who had a seat booked on the Venture but didn't show up: Lena Luthor. Her brother, Lex Luthor, is a supervillain put into prison by Superman. Lena has just moved to National City and taken over the family's business, Luthor Corp. Clark and Kara go to her headquarters to question her for a news story.

Lena tells them that she cancelled because of her upcoming renaming ceremony for her company. She's impressed by Clark, but clearly questions why Kara is there with him. She tells them that she was adopted when she was a toddler and Lex was the one who made her proud to be a Luthor. She has decided to rename the company L Corp and use it for good. She offers the pair a flash drive with all the information about the part that her company's subsidiary had made for the spaceship to prove her innocence. Katie McGrath plays Lena brilliantly; she's an icy boss woman and I love it.

Kara and Clark share a cute bonding moment when she asks him how he handles living a double life. He correctly guesses that she's worried about how to deal with James. He tells her, "Being Kara is just as important as being Supergirl." I hope that Tyler Hoechlin plays a large role on the show this season because Clark and Kara's relationship is just too cute.

Alex has UNCOVERED that J'onn and Superman fought over J'onn keeping Kryptonite at the DEO base. Clark wanted to destroy it because of the threat that it poses to him, but J'onn insisted on keeping it. Elsewhere in the DEO, Winn discovered that Lena was actually the target of the explosion and that an assassin has been hired to kill her.

Lena is in a helicopter when strange drones show up controlled by a man in a strange room; it's easy to guess that it's her brother, Lex Luthor. Superman and SUPERGIRL manage to protect Lena though it's more difficult because Lex sends other drones after civilians.

Cat calls Kara out for not knowing what she wants to do. Kara admits, "In some areas of my life, I feel so strong and confident and then every other area -- career, love-- I don't know what to do." Cat tells her that she needs to find the confidence to dive in and make a new life for herself. As a senior in college, this talk was actually very touching and personal for me as I try to decide what to do after graduation. Who would have thought that my inspiration would come from Cat Grant?

Alex forces J'onn to talk to Clark about their issues. Clark, however, doesn't want to talk. "What's there to talk about, J'onn?" he asks. "You keep Kryptonite here. It could kill me; it could kill Kara." It's clear that J'onn accepts that he has a point and is uncomfortable that he might be putting Kara in danger. Furthermore, Clark assures him that while he trusts him, he's worried about what might happen if J'onn were no longer at the DEO and couldn't protect them. I have to say, I think I side witH Clark on this one.

Despite Kara's urging , Lena has decided to go ahead with her company's renaming ceremony. She tells Kara that her life isn't worth saving if she can't fix the company's image. She apologizes to the people and tells them that the company will do good to make up for what her brother did. Just then, a skyscraper behind them explodes and starts to fall over.

Kara and Clark rush to keep the building standing. Winn tells them that they need to fix a broken column in the building. While Clark holds it up, Kara takes large beams to repair the column and the two save the building together. Meanwhile, the assassin approaches Lena dressed in a police uniform and tries to shoot her. Alex saves her but the two are locked in hand to hand combat.

When Kara arrives, the assassin is trying to take Alex hostage, but Lena shoots him from behind. I love that she took control of her own fate and was able to help save the day despite being a normal human!

Later, she thanks Clark for the article he wrote about her. She asks Kara why her name wasn't on the byline. "Like I said, I'm not a reporter," Kara insists. "You could have fooled me," Lena tells her, which inspires Kara to realize what she truly wants.

Kara returns to CatCo to tell Cat that she wants to be a reporter. Cat shows Kara that when she interviewed to be her assistant, she wrote "reporter" on her resume. It turns out that Cat knew Kara better than she knew herself. She tells her that she sees a bit of herself in Kara and adds, "You have integrity to right wrongs and see justice done. You inspire me, Kara. I can see the hero within you." One of the things that I love about the show SUPERGIRL is that it stresses that Kara Danvers is every bit the hero that SUPERGIRL is: her power doesn't come from her ability to fly or shoot lasers, but rather from her commitment to doing what's right and her BELIEF in helping people.

In the most shocking moment of the episode for me, Kara tells James that they are better off as friends. It's clear that he's much more upset than she is. I'm curious to see what this means for Kara's romantic life. Will she and James still end up together eventually? Will she have a crush on this mystery man from Krypton? Will she and Winn actually get together? (Okay, I can't help it; Winn is my favorite character.)

Speaking of our favorite nerdy IT guy, J'onn has hired him to work at the DEO full time. There was a hilarious scene where he struggles to figure out if he should call him Hank, the Martian Manhunter, or J'onn J'onzz. Relatable content, really. (I finally decided to stick with J'onn.)

Clark announces that he's decided to stay in National City for a while because he likes working with family and hopes that Kara can tell him more about his parents. In the very last minutes of the episode, however, we see that some strange woman has rescued the assassin, John Corbin, and is turning him into a new monster. I'm guessing we'll see more of him on next week's episode of SUPERGIRL.

To me, this was a very solid season premiere that set so many different plots into action. I can't wait to see how James deals with his and Kara's breakup, what Winn working at the DEO will be like, and how Clark and Kara's relationship as fellow superheroes will evolve. This episode contained everything that I've always loved about SUPERGIRL: girl power, touching family scenes, and characters who get more lovable with every episode.
