Wouldn't it be nice if real life scandals were cleared up as poetically and swiftly as in Shondaland? Once again, tackling a topical and controversial subject, SCANDAL is moving on from the Impeachment. Can I get a Hallelujah?
Yes, yes, thanks to Rowan's blackmail, the Impeachment was dropped. Fitz hires Jake to find Rowan whose only intent is to immediately kill him. After an angry conversation with Liv, Jake informs her that she, if nothing else, has turned into exactly what Rowan wanted; a power hungry and ruthless warrior, with no regard for anyone but herself. Harsh words from Jake, but back at OPA, Huck tends to agree. They finally have a new client by the name of Hannah Taylor. She wants to come forward as an assault victim of renowned, Professor and author, Frank Holland. Holland is a well-known feminist who spends his time empowering women and has just received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Fitz. Upon interview, Frank seems unphased by the accusation and dismisses it. Through investigation, OPA finds quite a few women with similar stories about being drugged and waking up in Frank's bed over the years. (Hmmmm, I wonder who this story is based upon...) When Olivia makes the ultimate disgusting discovery that his wife, Jenny, not only provided him with the Oxycodone, but condoned his activity due to all of his empowerment of women over the years. Needing a dramatic turn, Olivia has all the victims show up at one of Frank's readings and in front of the Press recap their encounters with Frank. Best line: "I will never understand women who stand by a man like this." Amen, Olivia!
Liz summons Abby to tell her that she plans to go on Sally Langston's show for a tell-all interview unless Abby gets her a job. Cyrus isn't having it and sends Liz to David Rosen who threatens her that she cannot disclose confidential information. Realizing he has nothing to hold her on, Liz leaves which angers Cyrus. He advises Fitz to make nice with her, but Olivia counteracts and advises Fitz to give her a job in exchange for going on Sally's show and telling her what a great man Fitz is. Liz returns to David Rosen's office to inform him she's the new VP's Chief of Staff and she knew he was bluffing with their former meeting. Things get heated and suddenly... congratulations, David Rosen, you have a plotline! Yup, Liz and David settle out of court, shall we say? All of a sudden, David is the prettiest girl at the dance as VP Susan Ross has such a crush on him that she brings him wine coolers...?
Lastly, infuriated by seeing how Fitz is being constantly influenced by Olivia, Cyrus basically agrees with Jake that she has turned into Rowan's daughter. She has the power, Fitz does everything she says. She is basically the President. She is distraught by the accusation, but when she heads into the Oval Office, she rapid fire gives Fitz answers to all the Presidential decisions he is weighing. Indeed, she is Daddy's little girl.
I am so happy to be done with the Impeachment, have I mentioned that? I am so happy that OPA is back in business and actually working on cases again. And I am over the moon happy that David Rosen is finally in a relevant plotline. Needless to say, I was greatly pleased with the episode as it finally opened up some interesting story points. I don't know how I necessarily feel about the Liz/David thing? I will always be Team David/Abby, but I'm happy he's getting some... screen time.
As for the Rowan sitch, Jake knows, Abby knows... what is going to happen when Cyrus finds out? And he will find out. Cyrus always finds out. Even worse, what about when Fitz finds out? And are we ever going to find out more about Lazarus? They set the freaking Louvre on fire and no one seems to mention that anymore. That's a pretty big deal. Regardless, Liv is power hungry so just how far to the dark side will she fall?
