Well, if there's one thing we can't accuse SHAMELESS of, it is having an event-less finale. I mean, EVERY single character's story line was addressed and nearly every one of them left us in a lurch.

Gus has returned, but he may be too late because Fiona seems pretty interested in Sean. So much so, that she tells Sean she's in love with him. Sean seemed pretty blase about it. As Fiona tries to make the decision between the two, it is Gus' bandmate pal who tells Fiona that if she doesn't love Gus, she has to end it. Gus will never do it because he's too nice of a guy and Fiona, well, isn't.

Lip is falling in love with Helene and Amanda who has been pretending to be cool about it this whole time, actually is quite the opposite of cool about it. She confronts Lip in the library and causes a scene screaming and punching him telling him how DARE he make her fall in love with him. Can we talk about Helene's husband sitting in the corner watching Lip and Helene go at it? This is a thing that happens? Am I that sheltered?

When Fiona walks on in Debbie and Derek in bed together, the two sisters have a fight about men. Debbie is in love with Derek and wants to have his baby and get married. However, she is 14 and Fiona tells her she is being rash just falling in love quickly and making a decision that will affect the rest of her life. Debbie, rightfully, calls Fiona out on doing the exact same thing. I mean, we all root for Fiona, but we can all also agree she probably isn't the best role model when it comes to dating, nor is she in any position to judge her sister for doing the same thing. Granted Debbie is 14 and Fiona is right, but still, she is being hypocritical. Fiona catches Vee and Gus up on all the family drama. Gus politely listens and leaves as he tells Fiona she needs to make a decision about their relationship sooner rather than later. Vee catches Fiona up on her life as she tells her all the co-eds Kev slept with and now Vee is afraid he caught something. Vee dresses up like a schoolgirl to try and keep Kev interested and he tells her he isn't interested in that, only in her.

Frank and Bianca are living on the beach in Costa Rica. Bianca is slowly losing her mind to the point of playing Russian Roulette one night. She really wants to end her life, but can't find the courage to shoot herself. At the end, she leaves a note for Frank to give to her family and she swims into the ocean.

Quite quickly, on the road, Ian learns that traveling with Monica isn't the best idea. Especially after they end up at her teenage lover's meth lab in the middle of nowhere. He finally comes home, thank goodness. A distraught Mickey tries sleeping with women and picking up hustlers, but he can't get Ian out of his head. He is overjoyed when he finally gets Ian's call that he is home and races to the Gallaghers.

And with that, our Season Five ends, kids. And here are the cliffhangers we have to sit with for the next 10 months:

  • Ian breaks up with Mickey because he doesn't have the heart to saddle him with his disease for the rest of their lives. Is this really the end for my favorite couple? It can't be, right???

  • Fiona is in love with Sean, but still married to Gus. Who will she choose?

  • Lip admits he is in love with Helene and Amanda admits she's in love with Lip. Amanda dropped a subtle hint that Helene has a history of this and the administration wouldn't be too keen on it. Is Amanda gonna go psycho on Lip?

  • Ian did finally admit he needs medication, so that's something?

  • Carl and Chuckie, still in juvy, are in separate gangs and begin a gang war.

  • Sammy, very NOT dead, is back and with a gun and she wants Mickey DEAD. She is chasing him firing shots as the episode ends.

  • Debbie is pregnant!

Whew! That was tiresome, but I would expect nothing less from our Gallaghers. A lot of changes occurred this year. I never saw a Kev and Vee split happening, but thankfully they were able to work their way back towards each other. Debbie is out of her mind and what in the world is she going to do next? I'm guessing Derek isn't going to stick around too long for Debbie's pregnancy or will Fiona force her to have an abortion? Carl is just trouble, his future is always going to be in jeopardy as I think he is the most like his father. Frank is going to be extra lost now that the one person he cared about is gone. (Greatly enjoyed that final scene where he shows up and takes a hit off of Lip and Ian's joint and just walked away to the boys' amusement.) Fiona, as usual, is in the position of choosing between the right guy for her and the guy she wants. At least Jimmy is out of the equation... for now? And my poor, sweet Ian and Mickey. I have to believe this isn't the end for their story. It's too epic to just be done.

Lines I Love:

  • Doctor - Ballpark, more than X less than Y? Kev - Is that math? Cause I really wasn't great...

  • Vee - That was like 15 different insulting metaphors mashed up into one nasty sentence

  • Sean - Happy is overrated. Grow up, Fiona.

  • Fiona - How's Monica? Ian - Living with a teenage meth dealer. Fiona - That can't be good.

And the time has come to say goodbye to our beloved Gallaghers for another year. I am truly saddened, but another stellar season in the books. Until next time, see you on the South Side.
