Film and television stars (and audiences) are sure to come out in droves when funny ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler take the stage for a final time (so they say!) to host the Golden Globes, tonight on NBC at 8pm/7c. While the annual ceremony wouldn't be as geared toward theatre people as, say, the TONY AWARDS (June 7th on CBS for those who need a heads-up), this year is a bit different, with a collection of nominees having Broadway experience, and a few films up for nods having ties to theatre as well.

To start, of course, we have to mention that Sondheim's Broadway-blockbuster-turned-hit-movie INTO THE WOODS, is nominated for Best Picture, along with nods for Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, and we'll acknowledge that Best Picture-nominated BIRDMAN is not only about a Broadway play, and co-stars GG-nominated Emma Stone (currently appearing in CABARET), but parts of the film were actually shot on location at the St. James Theatre!

But, that's not all. Broadway alums Jessica Chastain, Eddie Redmayne, Ethan Hawke, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Leiv Schreiber, Viola Davis, Edie Falco, Jeffrey Tambor, William H. Macy, Jessica Lange and Frances McDormand are all among those nominated tonight. In addition to the aforementioned Stone, current Broadway performers Jake Gyllenhaal, Ruth Wilson, and Alan Cumming have also garnered nods for their respective work in either TV or film.

It should also be mentioned that the film adaptation of Larry Kramer's 2011 Best Revival of a Play Tony-winner THE NORMAL HEART is up for Best Television Film (along with the performances of Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer), and the 2014 modern adaptation of ANNIE garnered two nominations; one for the new song, "Opportunity," performed by Grammy-nominated Sia, and one for Annie herself, pint-size powerhouse Quvenzanhé Wallis.

And if that weren't enough, even some of the presenters are theatre alums. Among them are Tony winner Lily Tomlin, 2006's THE COLOR PURPLE producer Oprah Winfrey, Amy Adams - who hasn't starred on Broadway *yet*, but did take on the role of the Baker's Wife in a 2012 Central Park production of INTO THE WOODS - and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who not only graced Broadway in 2010's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, but walked away from that year's Tony night as Best Actress in a Musical.

So, what do you think about this year's theatrical roster? Any noms you're definitely rooting for to win? Do you think Fey and Poehler will crack audiences up this time around? Leave your comments below, and check back here at 8pm for a complete analysis. I'll be updating LIVE from beginning to end. See you then! And to whet your appetite for tonight's ceremony, here's a complete look at all the nominees in all 25 categories!

7:28pm - All right, y'all! I'm here! Which theatre alums do you spot on the red carpet?

7:30pm - Okay, I'm gonna be honest. I kinda forgot (as I do every year) it's actually 4:30pm live in California. :-) Too much snow here!

7:32pm - Theatre Alert: Kevin Hart just mentioned THE WEDDING RINGER, co-starring Broadway's Josh Gad; Michael Keaton talked about BIRDMAN, a theatre movie co-starring CABARET's Emma Stone, and INTO THE WOODS' Anna Kendrick just showed up on the red carpet!

7:36pm - Natalie Morales just asked Julia Louis-Dreyfus if she would like to host the Globes one day. Should she? What do you think?

7:38pm - Theatre Alert: Just saw a commercial for AMERICAN SNIPER. The movie stars Bradley Cooper, currently on Broadway in THE ELEPHANT MAN, and Sienna Miller, set to step in to CABARET on February 17th.

7:42pm - Matt and Savannah announce 18 minutes before the Globes begin and celebrate with champagne. Wait... where are Kathie Lee and Hoda?! :-) Also, Theatre Alert: Viola Davis on now! She says, on being in Shondaland: "You never know what to expect when you come to work."

7:45pm - Seth Meyers being interviewed now. He announces he's also on the writing team for tonight's show. Man, this is gonna be funny! Also, theatre alum Allison Janney is on NOW!

7:46pm - Alan Cumming on the red carpet. Guess the Emcee was an understudy today.

7:52pm - 8 minutes to go! Remember the hashtag tonight is #GoldenGlobes.

8:00pm - Here we go! Welcome Amy and Tina!

8:01pm - Oprah in the house!

8:02pm - Three cheers for Emma Stone! Broadway loves those big eyes!

8:04pm - Spotted: Broadway alum Frances McDormand.

8:09pm - INTO THE WOODS mention! Do you enjoy the Sondheim cracks? "Do you sing Sondheim?" "No I don't, but anyone can!!"

8:11pm - What do you prefer? Movies or television? 'Cause this is BWW... I'll just throw live theatre in there as well.

8:12pm - And the winner of Best Supporting Actor in a Movie is.... J. K. Simmons for WHIPLASH.

8:14pm - And the winner of Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Mini-Series or TV movie is.... Johane Frogat for DOWNTON ABBEY. Love the Brits! :-)

8:23pm - And the winner of Best Mini-Series or TV Movie is.... FARGO. I still loved THE NORMAL HEART.

8:25pm - And the winner of Best Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie is... Billy Bob Thornton for FARGO. Again, repping for the theatre nominees, Mark Ruffalo gave a fantastic performance!

8:26pm - A look at BIRDMAN. Theatrical movies FTW! Filmed on location at Broadway's St. James Theatre. I soooo gotta see this!

8:30pm - So, half an hour in. Whaddaya y'all think so far? Remember to #GoldenGlobes.

8:32pm - Tina and Amy are back! BIRDMAN's Michael Keaton taking a photo of INTO THE WOODS' Meryl Streep with Margaret Cho.

8:34pm - A brilliant speech by HFPA President Theo Kingma. Standing O indeed!

8:36pm - Theatre Alert: ALL THE WAY's Tony winner Bryan Cranston presenting NOW!

8:37pm - And the winner for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical is... Gina Rodriguez for JANE THE VIRGIN.

8:38pm - "Thank you, God, for making me an artist." So inspiring for us theatre people!

8:39pm - And the winner for Best TV Series - Comedy/Musical is.... TRANSPARENT. Featuring Broadway alum (albeit he was only on Broadway a few days) Jeffrey Tambor.

8:42pm - Time for a pee break. Back in a few.

8:46pm - Here's a question: Do you all think Melissa McCarthy (on NOW presenting ST. VINCENT) should come to Broadway? What role should she play?

8:48pm - Theatre alert: Soon-to-be CABARET star Sienna Miller presenting NOW.

8:49pm - And the winner for Best Original Score of a Motion Picture is... Jóhann Jóhannsson for THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING.

8:50pm - Okay, I know this has nothing to do with theatre... but Prince in the house!!!

8:51pm - And the winner of Best Original Song is.... "Glory" by John Legend and Common from SELMA. Not to be bitter 'cause SELMA is a fantastic movie, but go support ANNIE. "Opportunity" is a great song. On the other hand, this is a fantastic speech!

8:55pm - Almost an hour in. We enjoyin' the show so far?

9:00pm - And the winner for Supporting Actor in a Series, Mini-Series or TV Film is... Matt Bomer for THE NORMAL HEART. Finally a win for this incredible TV film! As you all know, based on Larry Kramer's hit play, THE NORMAL HEART, last produced on Broadway in 2011.

9:02pm - A look at THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING, starring Broadway alum Eddie Redmayne, last seen in 2010's RED.

9:03pm - Ricky Gervais, y'all. Funny, funny dude! "Let's just not make this worse. I'm not going to say anything."

9:05pm - Ricky Gervais admitted he still YouTubes the John Travolta Oscar slip up. OMG, guys! Let it go! Idina has. Why can't you?

9:06pm - And the winner for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical is.... Amy Adams for BIG EYES. Congrats, but again, go support Emily Blunt and Quvenzanhé Wallis in their respective theatrical movies.

9:07pm - Ha! Was just pointed out that Central Park Baker's Wife just won over Hollywood's Baker's Wife. Two fantastic performances!

9:12pm - Miss Golden Globe: Greer Grammer, daughter of Kelsey Grammer. I'll make this one a trivia contest. What's the Broadway connection here?

9:14pm - And the winner of Best Animated Film is... HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2!

9:16pm - A look at INTO THE WOODS, last produced on Broadway in 2002.

9:18pm - Loved the touching tribute to those affected in France.

9:19pm - And the winner of Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture is... Patricia Arquette for BOYHOOD. And she didn't have to take 13 years to get up to the podium! Sorry... stupid joke. :-P

9:29pm - Enjoying these comical, colloquial updates of classic movie lines. Which one is your favorite?

9:30pm - And the winner for Best Screenplay for a Motion Picture is... BIRDMAN. Theatre film FTW!

9:33pm - A look at BOYHOOD, presented by Jack Black, star of SCHOOL OF ROCK, a musical adaptation of which is coming to Broadway next season!

9:34pm - Theatre alums Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda on NOW!

9:36pm - And the winner of Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical is... Jeffrey Tambor for TRANSPARENT. He was on Broadway in 2011 in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. It was brief, but in my book, it still counts. Fantastic work!

9:37pm - A fantastic, moving speech by Jeffrey Tambor.

9:44pm - And the winner of Best Foreign Language Film is... LEVITHAN (Russia).

9:46pm - And the winner of Best Actress in a TV Movie is... Maggie Gyllenhaal for THE HONORABLE WOMAN. Another theatre alum who just closed in THE REAL THING. How cute was that kiss between her and brother Jake Gyllenhaal?! Head's up: He's on Broadway, too, opening Tuesday 1/13 in CONSTELLATIONS.

9:53pm - And the winner for Best Drama TV Series is... THE AFFAIR.

9:56pm - Theatre Alert: Broadway alum Catherine Zeta-Jones presenting NOW!

9:58pm - And the winner of Best Actor in a TV Drama Series is.... Kevin Spacey for HOUSE OF CARDS. Gotta love it! Did you know Frank Underwood was based on Shakespeare's Richard III?

10:00pm - Also.. shout out to nominee Liev Schreiber -- a theatre alum, last seen on Broadway in 2010's A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE -- nominated for RAY DONOVAN.

10:02pm - George Clooney's award up next. A little less than one hour to go. Time for a check-in. Y'all enjoying?

10:10pm - A look back at George Clooney's career, before he receives the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

10:16pm - A classy speech by George Clooney. Touches on supporting small films, fighting for peace, and celebrating love when you finally find it. Amen.

10:22pm - A look at THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. Not a theatre-related film, but damn, sure looks good! #INeedtoSeeThis #IDontGetOutMuch #NoJudgment

10:23pm - And the winner of Best Director of a Motion Picture is... Richard Linklater for BOYHOOD!

10:25pm - And the winner for Best Actress in a TV Drama Series is... Ruth Wilson for THE AFFAIR! Theatre Alert: She's opening in CONSTELLATIONS on Tuesday 1/13.

10:32pm - Theatre alert: 2012's Central Park Baker's Wife (and GG-winner earlier tonight) Amy Adams presenting NOW!

10:33pm - And the winner of Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical is... Michael Keaton for BIRDMAN! A movie about a struggling actor trying to reinvent himself. How many of you theatre people have been there?

10:36pm - Holy crap! I'm crying at Michael Keaton's speech! Soooo touching!

10:37pm - Who gets a car?! Oprah is presenting NOW! (A look at SELMA -- an excellent film!)

10:43pm - We're back. Who thinks we're gonna finish on time?! Will we make it to 11pm or have to spill over?!

10:44pm - And the winner of Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical is... THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. Wow! Is it an upset? Or not? Comment below! And remember to support the other nominees (The theatre ones are INTO THE WOODS and BIRDMAN. :-) ).

10:46pm - So Bill Murray was in two Best Motion Picture nominees? Didn't know! Cool!

10:47pm - Oh no! Another commercial break?! Will we make it in time?! We may have to cut the closing number!

10:51pm - Okay, so they've actually acknowledged that they're running long. I feel better now.

10:52pm - And the winner of Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture is... Julianne Moore for STILL ALICE. Here's another one that I think should come to Broadway. Perhaps CHICAGO? Yes/No? What do you think? (Side note: Melissa McCarthy as Mama Morton? Why not? MODERN FAMILY's Gloria did it. Why couldn't MIKE AND MOLLY's Molly do it?)

10:54pm - And the winner of Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture is... Eddie Redmayne, THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING. Another theatre alum FTW! Fun fact: You can also catch him as Marius in 2012's Les Miserables film.

10:56pm - Wait... what?! A commercial break?! There's only four minutes left! Okay... they're definitely going to have to cut the closing number!

11:00pm - We're officially running over. So, what do we do? Bring on Meryl Streep.

11:01pm - And the winner of Best Motion Picture - Drama is.... BOYHOOD. A great film... very well-deserved!

11:02pm - A parting shot with Margaret Cho. "I host next year." I guess we'll find out soon enough.

11:03pm - Okay, a few parting words. What I love about the Golden Globes is it's sort of a precursor/predictor of how the Oscars may turn out (though sometimes not). Oh, by the way, this year's ceremony is hosted by HEDWIG Tony winner and host extraordinaire Neil Patrick Harris - Sooo excited! Tune in on February 22 to see if the winners there match the winners here. And please support me here on BroadwayWorld and read my recaps for MODERN FAMILY, PARENTHOOD (through Jan. 29) and YOUNGER (beginning March 31)! Thanks for tuning in!! Hope y'all enjoyed the show!
