The liars are back in the fifth season of "Pretty Little Liars" and they are not alone. So let's take a look back at what we have seen so far this season, before BWW's regular recaps begin tonight.

Recovering from last season's shocking finale, the girls are thrown back into Alison DiLaurentis' crazy world. Each girl reacts differently to their best friend's reappearance; Emily dives back into the way things used to be, while Hanna lashes out and worries over, once again, becoming Ali's puppet. Aria becomes paranoid over the duplicity of Mr. Fitz, and the trauma of an event that left her a murderer, and Spencer begins to uncover secrets in her own family.

In the season opener, the girls learn that Ezra saw the identity of "A" before he was shot and they rush to protect him at the hospital, fearing the hooded "A" is waiting to finish the job. Meanwhile, Rosewood is on high alert as the girls' families have reported them missing, and the Hastings family is pulled into an investigation. Mona continues building an army against Allison.

Episode two throws the girls into the new normal. With Allison back and very much alive, word soon spreads around town, and once again the liars are the center of attention. Back in her old house, Allison grows skeptical over her brother and father, while the DiLaurentis' begin searching for Jessica who was murdered in the Season 4 finale. The liars struggle with the truth as Allison begins weaving a new tale of lies about her disappearance and ensnares the girls in her tangled web.

"Surfing the Aftershocks" centers around the discovery of Jessica DiLaurentis' body in the Hastings' backyard and the suspicions of who murdered her. While some of the girls think Jason is at fault, Spencer defends her half brother and insists it wasn't him. Aria continues to have trouble coping with murdering Shana despite the act being self defense. Mona is once again on the liars tail and the girls worry about the loopholes in Alison's story as Melissa confronts Spencer and seemingly convinces her Jason is guilty. While Allison is expected to return to school soon, another new girl is introduced to Emily - a swimmer named Sydney. Let's keep an eye on this one. A flashback reveals how Alison's disappearance helped Hanna to become Rosewood's new "it" girl and parallels her distress over her return. At the closing of the episode, Melissa, Mr. Hastings (Peter) and Spencer have a confrontation which ends in Mr. Hastings silencing Melissa's confession with ominous words: "[You] can't lie about something you don't know anything about."

In the fourth episode, Spencer attempts to unearth more information about her father and Melissa but her mother, Veronica, would rather ignore it. Lucas is revealed to be working with Mona and Paige and Emily seem to be having relationship problems. While Aria obsesses over Shana, Mr. DiLaurentis worries about Ali and convinces her to receive a medical examination. Spencer and a friend begin repairing the backyard where they discover rat poison just after learning that Jessica's reported cause of death has been ruled as a poisoning. Seeking answers, Spencer finally gets her mother to talk. Veronica reveals that on the night of Ali's disappearance, Jessica came to the Hasting's house to accuse Spencer but Peter shut her up by threatening to go public with their affair. However, after Jessica and Mr. DiLaurentis divorced, Peter grew nervous and Veronica fears he killed Mrs. D. Elsewhere, Mona confronts Paige and tries to recruit her much to no avail. Aria and Ezra grow closer. Finally, Peter tells Spencer that her mother will be spending a few days at a Spa and Alison discovers a hateful website about her.

"Pretty Little Liars"'s 100th episode packs a punch. In "Miss Me x 100", Allison returns to Rosewood High, Aria and Fitz rekindle an old flame, Toby returns and only adds suspicion to Spencer's claims, Hanna and Travis' relationship complicates as Caleb returns and Alison and Emily share a kiss. Veronica tells Spencer that she is leaving Peter and the new girl Sydney is revealed to be working with Mona and Jenna.

Back at school, the liars and Alison brace themselves for ridicule but are surprised to see Alison welcomed back by a few students. However, in a showdown between Ali and Mona, the latter captures and manipulates a video to make it seem as if Allison is ready to reclaim her throne in Rosewood. On top of it all, the body in Alison's grave has been identified as a Radley runaway named Bethany. A loud boom is heard and the group runs outside to see the Cavanaugh house explode.

The sixth episode opens with the girls receiving a text from A: "Did you miss me, bitches?" Having thought ShAna was dead, the girls are thrown into a loop over the resurfacing of their enemy. Rosewood's Letitaunt Tanner begins working on Mrs. D's disappearance and has a multitude of questions for the liars. "A" attacks Ali at her house, threatens to kill her if she leaves town and Emily saves the day. While volunteering at Radley, Aria hopes to uncover the mystery behind Bethany while an orderly, Eddie Lamb, leaves a drawing of Jessica DiLaurentis being murdered by a demon at Ezra's doorstep. A sends Ali a text telling her it's "time for the caged bird to sing."

The seventh episode and the last of our recap is cleverly titled "The Silence of E. Lamb." While Hanna considers abandoning Ali, the other girls continue to support her tangled web of lies. Aria goes undercover at Radley and meets Bethany's roommate which prompts Eddie Lamb to question Aria's intentions. Hanna tipsily confesses to Sydney that the girls were in New York at the time of Shana's death and the liars receive a text from A ratting out Hanna's big mouth. Meanwhile, Hanna and Caleb patch things up with a kiss. Spencer seeks Ezra's help and uses his spy equipment to monitor the Hastings house, eventually catching what appears to be Ali sneaking out late one night. Later, Eddie Lamb and Ezra plan a meetup but the Radley orderly never shows up...

All in all, the first seven episodes of "Pretty Little Liars' deliver laughs, tears and a heck of alot of suspense. The stakes are higher and the lies are more complicated than before. Will we ever really find out what happened to Allison? What will become of our little liars?
