That's one way to celebrate Women's history month. Remember when we were all worried for Maggie and Carol? Yeah... no need.

Seeing the capture of Carol and Maggie from their point of view was incredibly unsettling. Even the camera walking with them in which they could only see their feet walking was a horrifying way to be, well, in their shoes. Their captors Paula (Guest Star, Alicia Witt), Molly (the lady who smokes too much) and the other one (the one who has no name so we knew would die) as well as the dude that Carol shot, take them to a bunker. There, they call in for help as they decide whether or not to take Rick up on the offer to trade Primo (the guy on Daryl's motorcycle) for Carol and Maggie.

Carol begins hyperventilating and it's hard to see if she is having an actual breakdown or if she is just good, old, manipulative, Carol. It may be a little bit of both, frankly. She confesses that Maggie is pregnant and she just wants to protect her. She even confesses about her abusive husband, Ed and dead daughter after dude attacks Paula and Maggie and Carol assist her in subduing him. They advise Paula that due to his injuries, he will not live the 30 minutes it will take for her rescue team to get to them.

Nameless female captor takes Maggie to a separate room for questioning and reveals that she too was in a relationship and pregnant, but was punished for stealing. She has a bit of a chip on her shoulder.

Paula asks Carol why her group killed their crew. Carol tells her of the attack on Daryl, Abraham and Sasha and they were protecting themselves against some guy named Negan. Molly tells her they are all Negan. When Paula lets Carol in on her life story, Carol tells her that it is she who is afraid, not Carol and Carol is sure Paula will die, but she hope she won't have to kill her.

Paula reaches out to Rick over the walkie-talkie and accepts the deal for the trade. She assesses that they are probably preparing for attack. While she confers with Molly, Carol manages to escape and rescue Maggie. They realize that male captor is dead and about to turn so they unleash him on Molly and Maggie brutally kills her.

Paula and Carol come face to face, gun to gun. Carol advises her to run, she doesn't and gets shot instead. Nameless female captor attacks Maggie and slashes at her stomach. (She just got her shirt, right?) Carol shoots her in the head. When Paula laughs at her, the two fight until Carol brutally kills her. (Yeah, none of this was for the faint of heart and wasn't advisable during dinner when Paula's face gets eaten). They await for the rescue team. When the rescue team arrives in the building, they lock them in the bunker and set it on fire. As the girls emerge, they run into Glenn, Rick and the others. Maggie tells Glenn she is done fighting. Rick asks Primo who Negan is and Primo says that he is. Rick shoots him dead.

Yup, sisters are doing it for themselves. No knights in shining armor to rescue these gals, they handled it. When Paula was describing her story about evolving into what she is, it felt like she was describing Carol and Carol knew it. So Carol's crisis of conscience seemed to really manifest itself. Did Morgan really get to her? Is she finally hearing the words he was saying? Clearly those numbers last week were her kill list. And clearly she is having some real issues with it. It's funny how she didn't seem to have problems with these kills until Sam died, which wasn't her fault. Carol remains one of the most fascinating characters as she has evolved into such a complex person and a strong woman who still deep down has a conscience. And you just aren't human if you don't swoon when you see Daryl drop everything to be there for his pal, Carol when she's at her weakest. I know we shipped these two at one point, but I really like their friendship. Her needs are being met, anyway. (Thanks, Tobin.)

Also, we all know that dude wasn't Negan because he looks nothing like Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Seems as though Negan has a real Spartacus complex. #iamnegan

Are we going to meet this guy before the season ends? There are only three episodes left. THREE!!!!

Here's a preview for next week's all new episode:
