In case you weren't hearing enough about campaigns and elections and caucuses and primaries, SCANDAL is also in an election year. As Fitz is on his way out of the White House, tonight we got a glimpse of who is trying to climb their way inside it.

Mellie and Olivia are actually working together. Sure they have their ups and downs, but overall, despite being mortal enemies, at one point, I think they make a good team. In editing Mellie's book, Olivia encourages Mellie to give America the chapter that everyone wants: Why did she stay in the marriage? Truth is, Mellie has no idea. And Olivia doesn't either. After some screaming matches and a drunk night over some of Mellie's moon shine, the twosome figure out that she needs to imply that she stayed because she was really holding the reigns the whole time, kind of like Olivia did when she was in the Oval. More importantly, they leak some of the pages to the Press to get the buzz started about Mellie's run.

Her opponent, Susan Ross is getting prepped as well. As Liz encourages her to run, it seems Susan isn't the least bit interested. What she IS interested in, is David Rosen. (DAVID ROSEN SIGHTING!!!!) Liz encourages David to use her crush on him to persuade Susan to run for President. He agrees and takes her to Gettysburger. What he wasn't counting on was that Susan knows exactly why she was given the VP. She knows that she could be a patsy in Mellie's campaign for the White House and she would get slaughtered in a Primary. Overwhelmed by how good a person Susan really is, he impulsively kisses her and tells her she's great. He informs Liz that he wants no part of her manipulation any longer as Susan is a decent person. However, Susan has filed the paperwork to run. I guess she fell for David's plan wholeheartedly. I'm predicting disaster and heartache for our sweet, Susan Ross, am I right? Also, doesn't Liz have a kid?

Meanwhile, Abby encourages Fitz to do a tell all interview with respected journalist, Lillian Forrester (Guest Star Annabeth Gish) while Cyrus is adamantly against it. When the two meet, sparks fly. Cyrus begs the President not to be a lame duck in his final year as Cyrus still wants to get stuff done. Fitz agrees to the interview, but Lillian calls it off as she confesses to Fitz she has a huge crush on him. Fitz asks her out on a date. Panicking, Abby calls Cyrus for help, but he has moved on, like literally as he heads to Pennsylvania to watch another candidate speak. Cyrus will run a campaign... even if it's for a Democrat.

Now, I'm basing that entirely on the fact that I am a Native Pennsylvanian and our current governor is a Democrat. But this is Shondaland, so it could just be another Republican candidate throwing their hat in the ring. (Also, not to brag, but I totally saw the PA state flag in the background before they said where they were. I'm like, the coolest, right? #single) But if he is a Republican candidate, are you telling me that we are going to have a Cyrus vs. Liz vs. Olivia campaign for the nomination? Yeah... so I'm sold.

Other little tidbits, Jake and Olivia are still sleeping together even though they hate each other. That's... interesting? And Marcus is still trying his damndest to bond with Huck. He gets through to him a tiny bit toward the end when Huck confesses he watches Havi's soccer games via a traffic cam. So Kim up and moved away? I mean, that's valid, I guess. We had a few solid moments of Pope and Associates last week with an actual case. I know the election will be a major portion of the back half of this season, but I hope we don't lose touch with the peeps over at OPA. Not that I'm not over the moon to have David Rosen back.

Gotta say, I'm on Team Susan here. Although, man, a Mellie/Susan ticket would be undeniably awesome.
