BWW Recap: How I Met Your Mother - Rhyming

This week on How I Met Your Mother, they did something kind of crazy - the entire show was in a rhyming scheme, the writers sure weren't lazy! The episode guest-starred Lin Manuel-Miranda, really, what could be grander? Known for his rhyming skills on Broadway and et al, he brings his rhymes to television; cause whom else was there to call?

The show begins on a bus with Marshall and with the baby, what happened to the rented car, did just he leave it, maybe? He starts to tell some stories about all of his friends to keep the baby fast asleep until the bus ride's end.

He begins with a tale about his friend Ted, and a girl he met, of course, what else could it be? They couldn't ignore that storyline after ten years on TV! Marshall tells Marvin about Ted's date, and how eventually Barney got there first, isn't that just fate? Tis not a sad ending though, since Ted's finally met the mother; it was worth the trip, that we all know.

As Marvin falls asleep, the bus stirs him awake, and Marshall tells another story - of Robin's big mistake. The story's simple really -- Robin stole a cake, she ate it all, it's true. But not because she was hungry, but because she was a bit blue. "But wait!" cried Lilly, "That's no reason to eat a cake!" and so Robin ate the whole thing to be happy, turns out that's all it takes. As he talked about how Robin ate a cake in so many bites, did Marshall know he was with the writer of Broadway's In The Heights?

Marvin's awoken once more, just as he went to sleep, leaving Marshall to tell one more fable, this time of Barney's tales, oh, how very not-so-very deep. Barney talks of how he's the player king of New York City, if he stole that line from Newsies, well, wouldn't that would be a pity. He talks of how he's part of a club to sleep with girls in the city and the boroughs, but no one believes his talk of the group, much to his incredible woes.

The episode ends as the bus breaks down, leaving Marshall with one more option - he must walk the rest of the way - wow, has he been drinking gin? Stay tuned next week to see more of this tremendous, and I hope you enjoyed my review with rhymes, so much you're wondering "wow, how did she do thus?"
