Remember the good old days when THE WALKING DEAD would give you a few breather episodes between the tense, stressful ones? Yeah, so those days are gone. I'm pretty sure I didn't breathe in the last ten minutes.

Basically, we have learned that whenever there's a faux cheerful opening, we'll be going down a dark, scary path, yeah? And so it holds true. Carol begins the episode by baking cookies for everyone in the neighborhood. She even has found a love connection with our old pal, Tobin. Good for them. And on top of that, tells Morgan that she's not going to rat him out to everyone for keeping the Wolf captive. All is well in Alexandria.

Kidding. It is NOT well in Abraham and Rosita's house as he finally decides to move out with one of the harshest breakup lines, I have ever heard. "When I met you, I thought you were the only woman in the world... you're not." HARSH! Even Eugene couldn't make her smile after that one.

When Rick and the crew return from Hilltop, they lay down the plan for everyone that they will be going to attack Negan and the Saviors the next day. Morgan is the only one who questions the plan, but is quickly dismissed. After finding a walker head that can pass for Gregory's, they send Andy from Hilltop in as a ringer with the fake Gregory head to get their hostage Craig back. With this distraction, Daryl is able to take out the guards and the gang gets entrance into the guard facility which looks like some sort of observatory, I guess?

Maggie and Carol wait on the perimeter. Carol is less than thrilled that Maggie came at all as she doesn't want anything to happen to her. Tara sits with Jesus and Gabriel as well waiting for their all clear.

During the attack, Rick and crew start silently killing guards in their sleep. All is going according to plan until a surprise attacker hits a fire alarm alerting everyone to their presence. A battle ensues and despite some close calls, all of our gang is in tact. Jesus heads inside with Tara to help out and sends Andy and Craig back to hilltop. Tara takes a traumatized Heath off on a provision mission away from the camp while Rick, Daryl and the crew start to explore the grounds. Daryl sees another survivor take off on his motorcycle and attacks him. Over the survivor's walkie-talkie comes a voice that tells them to lower their weapons as they have captured Maggie and Carol.

As usual, a lot to unpack here. Anyone else GREATLY disturbed at Rick, Glenn and the others placing knives to the guards skulls and killing them in their sleep? Yeah, yeah, I know, different time, survival of the fittest, blah, blah, blah. STILL very disturbing. The fact that Heath couldn't go through with it makes me wonder, will Morgan be able to begin a camp of his own for pacifists? People who aren't willing to kill people for survival? Morgan certainly was up to something back in Alexandria. And what in the heck was Carol tallying up in her notebook? And can we talk about all those damn polaroids on the guards wall? Foreshadowing of just how dangerous this group is?

Everyone did step up when needed though. Jesus put on a disguise and wound up saving Glenn and Heath and even Father Gabriel, while spouting bible verses took out a guard. I don't want to jump to conclusions... but is Gabriel becoming a badass?

However, our lovable gang is getting a bit barbaric. Granted, they were a little cocky walking into this Savior situation, but still. That was hard to watch. Did Jesus not prepare them enough for how dangerous the Saviors are? (Man, that's a weird sentence)

Regardless, our gang is in some serious trouble. Not only did they manage to get lose Maggie and Carol to the Saviors, they are now completely at their mercy as they have exposed their biggest advantage: the element of surprise. Let's hope Glenn can keep his emotions in check. If memory serves, in the comics, Negan and Glenn don't... hit it off. We'll see how they handle it... but I'm doubting it will go well.
