It's Carl's Day of Reckoning when he faces his drug charges. In a family full of Gallaghers, to be known as "the reckless one" is quite an achievement. Even Frank is impressed.

Lip finally catches a break at school. His super supportive and kind Financial Aid advisor reached out to a wealthy alumnus and he agreed to pay Lip's tuition for the semester until his Grant came through. (Where were these guys back in my day?) To add to his good fortune, his new Professor, Helene (Guest Star, Sasha Alexander) has an affair with him. She is married, but her husband, Theo, is totally cool with it and makes Lip dinner (?).

Ian has a psychotic break and almost takes a bat to Debbie's head. Mickey threatens him that he has to go on meds. Ian consents, but is not too happy when the doctor tells him he will be on medication for the rest of his life. He finally confesses to Lip that he is sick and Lip assures him that he will be okay. Fiona asks Sean if he can give Ian a job and he agrees. When Sean doesn't show up at the diner, Fiona finds him on his porch. He was denied moving to Pittsburgh with his son because of travel restrictions on his parole and he knows if he leaves his porch, he will go drink so he hasn't moved in hours. Fiona gets him a blanket and sits with him.

Kev, still staying in the dorms, is really enjoying college life and inadvertently becomes known as "The Rape Walker" as he begins walking girls home safely from parties to help them avoid being attacked. Soon these walks home end in some hookups. However, when confronted by his fellow dorm mates for taking all the girls, he describes Vee to them and realizes that she is the only one he wants to be with.

While at a routine checkup, Frank's doctor, Bianca (Guest Star, Bojana Novakovic), confesses that she has just been diagnosed with Stage Three Pancreatic Cancer and doesn't have long to live. Frank sees how much cash she has and offers to take her out and be reckless with her. She agrees and they buy weed, get high, streak through Chicago and even track down a HS acquaintance of Bianca's who ruined her prom and Bianca punches her in the face. Despite the reckless behavior, at the end of the night, Frank takes her home and cares for her in an extremely uncharacteristic move.

Sammy is out for blood after Chuckie is arrested with Carl. Chuckie gets tested and is declared legally mentally challenged, but he still gets sent to juvy for 120 days. Sammy arms Chuckie with a weapon and he immediately falls in with skinheads.

Despite Fiona's prepping, Carl acts very Gallagher-y at his hearing and talks back to the judge. He is immediately sentenced to juvy for a year. As soon as he gets there, he is quickly given street cred for not ratting out G-Dog and G'Dog's boys they offer their protection for Carl.

Oh Carl, why do you have to be so stupid? All the other Gallaghers are desperately trying to pull their lives together and make something of themselves and then there's you. I'm assuming we will keep going to juvy to see Carl and Chuckie's adventures? I hadn't heard anything of either of them taking a leave of absence from the show so I guess we'll see what happens.

Starting to think more and more that Sean and Fiona are falling for each other. I'm still rooting for Gus, as I think he's a smarter choice, but does Fiona ever pick the smart choice?

Lip seems to be doing well and enjoying life. He keeps catching breaks, thank goodness, as he really does have a great chance at succeeding. Where was girlfriend, Amanda during this big fling with Professor Helene?

There are only three episodes left and I already miss this show. I feel like I know the Gallaghers are real people and i know them and going eight months before I find out what's going to happen next in their lives is just too long a time to wait.

Lines I Love:

  • Kev - College is so much better with no school.

  • Frank - You have not lived until you've heard the bones of your enemy being crushed under 3000 pounds of Detroit steel.
