Well, I don't know about you, but the next time someone asks me if I want cookies, I will definitely just say yes and move on. In the seemingly perfect utopian town of Alexandria, things are going well and yet, so well, it's incredibly creepy.

Daryl, Carol and Rick have met up outside the camp at a cabin in the woods. They come to the decision that one of them should break into the supply house and steal some guns to hide there for safe keeping in case things go awry. Things go as planned and Carol unlatches the window in the supply house when she's there to pick up baking supplies.

Deanna decides to throw a party to put everyone's social anxiety through the roof. Nearly everyone makes an appearance and some are more comfortable than others. Rick is settling into Alexandria just with the slightest hint of letting his guard down. Seeing Carl act like a teenager with friends wins him over. He meets Jessie's husband, the town doctor, Pete. But that doesn't stop him from sharing a moment with her as they bond over Judith and he plants a very familiar kiss on her cheek.

Daryl is in the woods being Daryl when Aaron winds up joining him. Together, the two chase after a horse for dinner, but a group of walkers beat them to it. Back in town, Daryl tries, but can't bring himself to join Deanna's party. Instead, Aaron invites him to dinner at he and Eric's house. He breaks the news to Daryl that not only does he have an unfinished motorcycle in his garage he'd love Daryl to put back together. But also, he'd like to hire him as a fellow recruiter because he knows that Daryl can really tell good people from bad people. Daryl accepts and appears to be... touched?

With their new found comfort in the town, Daryl and Rick meet back up with Carol who has the guns and both are now skeptical of turning on the town. When they re-enter Alexandria, the three go their separate ways. And we are treated to a jolly Bee Gees tune as Rick walks the perimeter. Happy songs in happy shows are delightful. Happy songs in scary shows are creepy as hell. So let's dive into what we'll call the "what was up with that" portion:

  • The "W" on the Walkers forehead?

  • Jessie's son, Sam, stamping Rick's hand with an "A." Is that for Alexandria? Are we supposed to overlook the in our face symbolism of the Scarlet Letter as Rick flirts with a very married woman?

  • Sasha's breaking point in the woods shooting photos of happy families and begging the walkers to come eat her. Only then to have a meltdown at Deanna's party over what these people consider "problems?"

  • Why hasn't Daryl showered yet?

  • Carol scaring the bejeezus out of young Sam when he tells her he's going to have to tell Jessie he saw her breaking into the supply room only to have Carol describe in all too great detail of how she will tie him to a tree outside the town and wave walkers on to him? WHAT.THE....

  • Why did Rick reach for his gun when he saw Jessie and her husband? Why was Rick pawing at the wall? Why is Rick suddenly freaking me the heck out?

It does worry me a tad that Rick and Daryl are softening. This reeks of cult-like behavior as the residents start to play on the weaknesses of everyone. Rick, it is a stable home for his family, Daryl it is a motorcycle and the chance to be a savior of sorts, doesn't that seem a little too perfect a fit for both of them? Abraham convinces Michonne to (literally) hang up her sword. So within a few short days, their rag tag group of militia has been disarmed, literally and figuratively. Is Carol downright evil or is she the only one seeing clearly and taking it upon herself, much like Terminus, to be the outside pragmatic one to assess the actual danger? But when Rick reached for his gun... that was creepy... no?

So, as our survivors settle into Alexandria, Rick warns the residents of this town that walkers aren't the danger, it's people. But is it this gang that we have come to know and love so much that are the ones they should be worried about? Are they the dangers that they have been warning everyone about? And can Daryl please take a shower?

Lines I Love:

  • Carol - Know what's great about this place? I get to be invisible again.

  • Daryl - You used to be somebody's, huh? And now you're just yours.

  • Aaron - We've heard our fair share of well-meaning, but hilariously offensive things, from some otherwise really nice men and women. People are people. The more afraid they get, the more stupid they get.

  • Abraham - I don't know about this. Rosita - They have beer. Abraham - I'm gonna try.
