The Season Five premiere continued tonight with Parasomnia, which, as I learned, is a fancy word for night terrors. And with Parasomnia we got a few more hints at the Big Bad the Beacon Hills gang may be facing this season.
Lydia's mom is treating a student, Tracy, who is suffering from, yup, you guessed it; Parasomnia. She keeps dreaming of things outside her window, coming in through her sealed shut skylight and even seeing things at school in the middle of the day. Mrs. Martin (Natalie) tries to write it off as anxiety, typical for seniors, until Tracy vomits a bunch of black oil (?) and feathers on her desk. So you know, maybe "typical" isn't the correct word at this point.
Scott is still interning with Veterinarian/Supernatural Expert Deaton (even though it's hard for me to look at him as a Savior when he's such a wank on THE WALKING DEAD). Deaton examines the claws from the demon who tried to kill Scott and explains that they are not, in fact claws, they are talons from one of the largest birds of prey. In theory, no one but a Beta of Scott's making (like Liam) should be able to absorb his power.
Liam has a new female nemesis. Clearly someone from his past that he didn't get along with? Hmmm, I wonder if that'll turn into a romance.
And poor Stiles is still trying to prove that Theo isn't who he says he is. He convinces Parrish to do a background check on him and they find nothing. The best proof he can come up with is that a speeding ticket his Dad signed off on a few weeks ago, doesn't match his Dad's handwriting from the 4th grade. Still nobody is convinced, but Stiles remembers Theo from 4th grade, and this guy just isn't him. He even goes so far as to make Liam help follow him where they find Theo at the location of his sister's death from a while back. Stiles immediately feels badly. Theo confronts him and assures him he is who he says he is. Scott also shows up and asks Stiles what's up and Stiles confesses he is just worried about losing all his friends after graduation. When Stiles breaks his hand out of anger, in true bromance fashion, Scott absorbs his pain and heals his hand. Upon seeing this, Liam realizes he's gonna need a bestie to get through high school and decides to confess everything to Mason. Upon reaching the school, he and Mason are chased by an actual wolf. Liam starts to transform and scares him away and Mason realizes his secret. He seems, excited? The wolf takes off and transforms; it's Theo!
As for Tracy, after her Dad boards up the skylight and Parrish sets up camp outside her house, she feels safe only to wake up in the lair of the creepy water demons from the last episode that hired the monster to kill Scott. I'm being informed that they are referred to as "The Doctors?" And as it turns out, it is our sweet, little Tracy that is doing the haunting. She's a bit schizo and is scaring herself as she is turning into a demon with feathers. Or is she just stuck in a perpetual night terror and isn't even aware of what's happening? Okay, I'll sleep well tonight with that knowledge.
And Theo? The last scene is him with his "parents" as he is chastising them for not being accurate with the handwriting on the ticket... and breaks his father's fingers with a hammer! So yeah, Stiles was definitely on to something and since everybody seems to think he's crazy, he has a long fight ahead of him.
Now, are the Doctors the Big Bad? Is Tracy? Is Theo? Dr. Vareck? Is the Desert Wolf coming back soon? There are suddenly a lot of options of whom to be afraid of and I think our seniors are in for a troubled year.
