The Lyons are back and the drama is only getting started. With last fall's cliffhanger of Camilla taking over Empire Records, Lucius and Cookie aren't going to go down without a fight. But you didn't think they would, did you?

Inexplicably, Ronda survived falling down a very steep stairwell. Her baby, unfortunately, did not. Dre almost has a breakdown upon discovering the news. Lucius and Jamal are able to restrain him. He receives further bad news when Ronda informs him that she is now convinced God doesn't exist. That can't serve him well on his spiritual journey. When he returns her home, she doesn't want to sleep upstairs, but manages to crawl halfway up trying to remember just what happened. Dre, again, breaks down cleaning up the nursery. I sure hope we get some Jennifer Hudson back up in here, Dre needs some spiritual therapy stat!

Minutes after Camilla takes over Empire, Lucius is refusing to leave his office even though the police are about to arrive. Thirsty and Dre try to convince Lucius to leave as they have a plan to dethrone Camilla. Cookie goes to visit Hakeem and threatens him into taking his vote back. He refuses and she beats his ass with a purse. Camilla approaches Hakeem about his interest in CEO and says the job is his if he can get rid of his new love, Laura. Jamal warns Hakeem that being CEO isn't all it's cracked up to be and losing Laura over the job isn't worth it. Hakeem gets drunk and embarrasses Laura enough that she breaks it off with him. Lucius and Thirsty assemble a team of hit men to threaten the lives of all the board members and anyone with the intention of becoming the new Empire CEO. The threats work as everyone pulls their request and some even walk out. But Hakeem isn't afraid and steps up as the new CEO.

Jameison approaches Jamal after his performance at the ASA nomination show and informs him that he can't feature him as an LGBT hero if word gets out that he slept with Skye. In protest, Jamal performs his new song "Freedom" about being whoever you want to be and not attaching yourself to any label. Afterward, he presents Cookie with a plan to get her into Empire. Jamal, Dre and Cookie visit Hakeem and Camilla and tell them Lyon Dynasty will release Jamal's album and make Empire look like a fool unless Hakeem buys out Lyon Dynasty and makes Cookie head of A&R. Despite Camilla's warning, he accepts the offer to keep his family together. He heads to Laura's to make up with her. The confess their love to each other and sleep together. Hakeem meets up with Lucius by the river and Lucius finally confesses that he did kill Bunkie proving to Hakeem that he will do anything to keep Empire Records. Lucius asks Hakeem to kill him so that he doesn't have to kill Hakeem. Hakeem refuses and Lucius tells him to watch his back.

Well, can't say that there is any shortage of drama. I love when Cookie and Lucius are able to work together and be there for each other without actually being together. They make a good team.

Clearly, Ronda saw her attacker's shoes so that memory will come back at some point. From the looks of the preview next week, everyone is finally going to discover that Hakeem knocked up Anika. How long is it going to take Ronda to piece this all together? I can't imagine the wrath. (Prediction... Dre kills Anika. You heard it here first.) I can't imagine Laura will take too well to that news either after giving up her virginity to Hakeem. Guessing Camilla won't be thrilled either.

Really dug Jamal's new song, "Freedom," but didn't care too much for "Heavy is the Head that Wears the Crown." Also, how long is the ASA nomination concert? At this point, it's about four months long. Hoping to hear something new from Hakeem soon. Not bad for the first episode back. Drama, music, plot aside... how good did Naomi Campbell look in that green dress? She could really go places in fashion. #hottake
