Ash's severed hand spawned a new, alterna-Ash that murdered Amanda. The two versions were identical, but it was the real Ash's subtle, non-Asian related racism that lead Pablo and Kelly to killing the correct one.
The trio of Australian hikers (Brad, his potentially nameless wife, and Heather) appeared at the front door of the cabin asking for a place to stay. Ash wasn't keen on that plan (possession followed by "night train to Killadelphia"), but Pablo thought they'd be safer with them than out in the woods naïve and alone. Plus, he had a crush on Heather (Samara Weaving), who was totally open to having him keep her warm at night despite his having an imaginary girlfriend per Kelly.
Ash sent Kelly and Pablo off with the Aussies so they could drop the off somewhere safe, and then return to help him. While they were gone, he dissected his demonic twin to the tune of "Just the Two of Us." The blood spread across the floor and seeped into the Necronomicon, which began to speak. It tried to convince Ash that burying it was a mistake, because it was the only thing keeping him from being a common, middle aged stock boy. The book talked a lot of sack; like a verbally abusive parent. He shoved it in a fridge, but Amanda's body was gone when he returned. He had also planned on taking a peek at her smoking hot dead body, which is a little odd but unsurprising.
Pablo confronted Kelly about her lying to Heather about his being in a relationship. Kelly said she just didn't think Heather was good enough for him. You know, having just met her and all. This wasn't at all because she was jealous or territorial.
Deadite Amanda killed Brad and Mrs. Brad, and then used them to do an impromptu puppet show that was both gruesome and effective in illustrating Pablo and Kelly's semi one-side courtship. Heather panicked and ran deeper into the woods, but Amanda found her soon after. There were weak screams, bare abs and one-liners. Pablo appeared just as Amanda was about to finish Heather off. Like a bored child with an old toy, Amanda tossed Heather aside. Heather's leg slammed against a tree and a piece of bone tore through her flesh.
Amanda lifted Pablo by his neck and began to squeeze. As he gasped for breath, Ruby came LITERALLY flying into the scene (visually it could've been better), and knocked him free. Ruby seemed shocked to see Amanda not looking as well fit as she was used to. Candarian dagger in hand, Ruby demanded that Amanda tell her the truth. Amanda's face went back to normal (aka human or living) and she tried to use her feminine ways to distract Ruby from the task at hand. Though mildly tantalized, Ruby was prepared to end Amanda. However, Heather screamed, distracted Ruby, and Amanda got away. Timing.
Ruby dropped some knowledge on Pablo and Kelly and asked that they take her to Ash. So finally Ash and Ruby met. There was some verbal sparring. Ruby proved to be both mentally and physically faster than Ash. She was unimpressed by his chainsaw arm and bravado. Kelly broke up their uneven back and forth, and Ruby convinced them to let her see the infamous Book of the Dead.
She told Ash that he needed to use the dagger to cut the face off of the book, and then present the book to her. Ash hesitated and I was like "YEA!" because Ruby is shady as hell, but he gave it to her anyway. No one listens to my pleas. It's like this is TV or something.
Ruby took the book and read from it. No one tried to stop her. They looked concerned as heavy winds began to blow and the house began to creak. The book's face rose from the ground. Pablo's Brujo's necklace started to shake. He was pulled toward the leathery face which attached itself to Pablo; very THE MASK.
As Kelly tried to help Pablo, Ash commanded Ruby give him the book back. Didn't she know what she was doing? Of course she knew. She wrote it.
So what did you think of tonight's episode? Ruby's evil and now has control of the most powerful, demonic text in the world. We're only an episode away from the season finale. How will our heroes get out of this one? Will Kelly stop blocking Pablo's romantic game? Will Heather survive long enough for that to matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
