I sure hope nobody was binging on chocolate while watching this episode. Good LORD that was graphic. Our friends on the water aren't slowing down in the least as they start their float down to Mexico.

We finally get a glimpse at some survivors of the Flight 462 (Web Series). We meet Alex (for those who didn't see the web series, she was the one who tried to save the flight passengers from the impending virus which ended in chaos.) who is desperate to save a child, Jake, on a life raft with 3 other adult survivors. One of the men is bitten and is tossed overboard, another tries to kill Jake and is promptly killed by Alex and the third is trying to convince Alex to put Jake out of his misery.

Let's cut to the boat. Something is up with the engines and resident handyman, Travis, is the only one who can even try to fix anything. He swims underneath the boat and finds the body of the third dude, who tried to convince Alex to expunge Jake, blocking the engine. He resurfaces and has to reconfigure the filtration system which has become quite clogged with... well... not chocolate. Again... dear LORD.

Alicia spies the wreckage on the nearby shore and demands that she, Nick and Chris go scrounge for supplies. They desperately need them as Ofelia's wound is infected and she needs more meds. Salazar agrees to accompany the kids via motorboat. On the beach, Nick is successful in finding the correct meds for Ofelia, but is unsuccessful in not falling into a pit with a walker covered in crabs. So you know, more nightmares forever. He fights off the walker in the sand, only to be attacked by another falling into the pit. Chris discovers more dead bodies in another piece of Flight 462 and is having a little too much fun disposing of them until he finds a man who is alive. He tries to save him and sees that his spine is severed and there is nothing Chris can do for him except brutally kill him. Now Chris has not only taken walkers out, he has taken a human out. I'm thinking this kid has some issues to work through. Finally, we see Alex racing toward Salazar followed by a herd of walkers. Alicia finds Chris and the group is backed onto a cliff surrounded until Nick, covered in walker blood and guts, saves them. He has found the Rick trick, it's the only way for the walkers to not attack them. They escape to the motorboat taking Alex with them who insists on stopping for her own life raft that contains Jake on it. Strand won't let them on the boat and Travis offers to give them food and water and to tow them into San Diego. They begin their journey, but Strand cuts the tow and leaves them alone to float.

Strand and Chris are the hardest characters to figure out, for me. They both have their redeeming qualities but are also just dicks. Strand, okay, so you did rescue the gang, they're on your boat, you have a plan, you clearly don't want anything besides that plan to happen and all you want is gratitude. But man, he is so black and white hard core like Inspector Javert. There is no gray area. And Chris? Mad about his parents divorce, grieving his mother, budding serial killer? He took a little too much joy in killing those dead people in the wreckage. And when Alicia looked almost impressed that he killed one, was that a sly grin? Like, creep down a bit, kid. (And I feel bad saying that, because after seeing actor, Lorenzo James Henrie on TALKING DEAD, he is damn delightful!)

I am guessing (and hoping) we have not seen the end of Alex. I think she is too vital a character. And, call me crazy, if she does meet up with this group again, I doubt she'll be too happy. And again, it is quite debilitating to see Nick be such a strong character this year as he takes charge in situations. He seems almost comfortable and even Alicia is so happy and appreciative that he is stepping up his game.

Anyone else REALLY satisfied with this season so far? I think this show gets a lot of flack, but I think it is great and hope that it can keep up this momentum!
