It's an all out search for a missing spider as Schmidt races against time to save his dignity in front of his new girlfriend. It's the Smushers vs. the Jar-Men in an attempt to bring the spider in question to justice on the latest episode of NEW GIRL.

Schmidt is inviting girlfriend, Fawn, over for dinner for the first time and Nick is cooking his infamous "Sauce." However, a spider is loose and if there is one thing that terrifies Schmidt, it's spiders. Ever since that "American Pie" incident in 1999 when he fell asleep after having his way with a pie and his bed became infested with spiders. This throws the gang into a giant spider hunt so they can save Schmidt's dignity before Fawn arrives.

In the meantime, Cece doesn't want Jess to find out she's in love with Schmidt again. Winston, the least smooth guy ever, is the only one with the secret. When Jess figures out something is up, she guesses that Cece likes Nick and tries to encourage they get together. When in actuality, Cece is encouraging Nick to buy a popcorn machine for the bar. After a little THREE'S COMPANY misunderstanding play in action, Cece finally comes clean. And even though Jess is dying to meddle, she keeps her promise and stays out of it.

Meanwhile, Coach is struggling to compose the perfect email to impress May and creates 15 drafts. In the hunt for the spider, Schmidt accidentally smashes Coach's computer and sends May all of the drafts. Coach is aware that she will most definitely write him off after that psychotic display, but this is a sitcom and in a sitcom, the girl finds it charming and agrees to a date.

No mention of Jess' most recent breakup with British hottie, Ryan, but she sure seemed to distract herself with the spider hunt and figuring out Cece's love life. It was pretty big of her to put her best friend's happiness before her own, even if it hurt her that Cece liked Nick. (Which she didn't.)

I still think Winston is the most adorable. He just knows exactly who he is and still has the biggest heart of the bunch. He will stop at nothing, even creating lies, to keep secrets. He and Cece aren't even that close and he still jumped through hoops for her. I think it's time Winston found a love interest. Coach seems to be on the path to one, our boy Winston needs some love too!

And being friends with many spider haters, Schmidt's fear was pretty genuine. I am that way about snakes, but I have seen people freak the heck out over a spider. I believed every single one of this overreactions. But Fawn killing it on his face at the end and then him talking down to its dead body was priceless.

Lines I Love:

  • Schmidt - Normally, food ala Nick would be as appealing to me as licking the floor of a beach bathroom.

  • Jess - When you said "Fawn do," I definitely thought you were headed in the direction of Step One: Fawn Do, Step Two: Do Fawn. Coach - And I was like Fawn Do is Fawn Done. Schmidt - These are all good.

  • Coach - Do not ask me again to get on my shoulders. That's a once a year thing and we already did it on Halloween when we were 10-feet tall Ralph Macchio.

  • Jess - My best friend and my ex-boyfriend? Ugh. I feel like Brenda when Kelly dated Dylan... or the other way around.

  • Schmidt - Don't go up the spout if you can handle the rains, spider!

As far as I can tell, Nick's secret sauce recipe includes crackers, mustard, herbs, sprinkles, baloney, a jar of mayonnaise, a murder of peppercorn, racially described bread, just to name a few. But the picture of Nick standing behind the pot the entire episode just adding in random ingredients was just the epitome of the random comedy I love about this show. They really do have their mojo back.
