Oh good... more debates. Art is (over) imitating life on SCANDAL as Sally Langston prepares to hold the first Republican Debate between Hollis Drumpf Doyle, Mellie Grant and VP Susan Ross.

Liv has her hands full running Mellie's campaign and trying to get her to dumb it down a little to look like a woman of the people. Her latest stunt is to have Mellie make an appearance at Gettysburger. While she's there, she accidentally gaffes and states that she usually visits on Sundays, unaware that the chain is always closed on Sundays. As this eats up the news cycle, Abby tries to convince Liv to run Susan's campaign.

Susan is on point and everyone is impressed. David again begs Abby for advice over the anonymous two women he's having affairs with, but Abby is disgusted. Not knowing their identities, Abby accidentally reveals to Susan that David is a pig and is sleeping with two women. Visibly shaken up, Susan blows her next debate prep. She confronts David who, of course, lies his way out of it and they agree to come out as a couple after the debate. With further thought, she decides to pick the brain of the biggest philanderer she knows: Fitz. He tells her to go with her gut. She does and dumps David right before the debate even though he confesses his affair is over and he is in love with Susan. She cries to Liz and thanks her for being such a good friend.

On the Democratic side, Cyrus runs into a little bit of trouble as he comes up against Francisco's brother Alex, who seems to like to play dirty to run campaigns. Cyrus is at an impasse as Francisco always seems to be on his brother's side. Alex is so dirty (but in a hot way), that he decides to offer up some dirt on Susan Ross to Olivia Pope in exchange for some dirt on her friend, Senator Edison Davis (Guest Star Norm Lewis) who has now thrown his hat in the ring as well.

Quinn keeps up her surveillance on Jake to no avail and decides to move on to Plan B which involves befriending Jake's fiance, Vanessa. While posing as an old college buddy of hers, Quinn is able to assess that Jake is using Vanessa for her bank accounts and is funneling money through them to fund a Super Pac for Edison. Upon the discovery, Olivia decides to inform Edison just who he is dealing with, but it seems he already knows. She confronts Jake telling him she knows everything and successfully seduces him in a restaurant bathroom. #keepitclassy And after Papa Pope defends Edison to Olivia, she decides to give in to Alex's deal offering Edison's rehab stint up to him. When Olivia opens the envelope on Susan, she is stunned!

Hollis is an all too familiar character, in that he can do photo ops shooting assault rifles while cooking bacon on them and somehow come off more likable. It would be eerie if the real world weren't way scarier.

I love Susan Ross more and more each week. David has had such a fall from grace that I despise him now and am all about Team Susan. I am concerned over what information Alex Vargas gave Liv. I know this lady isn't perfect, but she really is a great character and in this fake election, it would be nice if the decent people were the front runners. Susan vs. Vargas would be something to wish for, but we'll see what happens. Cyrus is still ready to roll around in the mud and I'm sure my dear, sweet Tom will come up with something on Alex, but it's always nice to see Cyrus sweat a little.

So next week is the debate. Will Susan be able to hold it together after the demise of her relationship? Will Mellie be able to stand her own against a strong politician and a strong... well, Hollis? And will Sally favor Hollis and let him talk his propaganda without any consequences? I will say, backstage, anxiety-ridden Sally Langston is my favorite Sally Langston yet. And politics aside, I really want bacon right now.
