Mindy and Annette's already fragile relationship is put to the test when Mindy catches Annette committing a crime. And coming between an Italian Catholic boy and his mother is wading into dangerous waters.

To update Danny's Mom, Annette's, swimsuit collection, Mindy decides to take her shopping. She discovers many things along the way including the fact that Annette wants Mindy to buy her anything and everything but a swimsuit. That and Annette is a full blown shoplifter. Mindy witnesses her stealing a leather bomber jacket that she later gifts to Danny. Not wanting to spoil Danny's present or image of his mother, Mindy stays silent. But when Tamra's bracelet goes missing, Mindy throws the accusation. Danny is horrified and they prep for the guilt dinner. At Casa Castellano, Annette tries to make Mindy feel badly, but she drops the secret about the jacket. Annette confesses, but glosses over it until the ink tag in the jacket bursts. Danny forces her to take it back to the store, but it is Mindy who decides they should all make a break for it when the police are about to get involved. Danny learns a little something about bending the rules slightly and that Mindy and Annette may not always get along, but Mindy will always put family first.

Peter is enjoying spending time with his new girlfriend, Abby, as she is finally someone just like him who likes to lounge around, drink and party. However, when Tamra invites them to an all night dance party when Peter is on call, Peter is forced to admit that maybe he needs to be a grown up and breaks it off with Abby.

It's really nice to see Peter finally realizing that he is ready for something real. Maybe the relationship with Lauren, even if it failed, was still a good thing. And even though Jeremy has made some breakthroughs in recent weeks, he's still got a long way to go to win back the office to his side. In the meantime, we can enjoy his moments of sheer desperation for any kind of attention. And I can't even explain how badly I would love to go to a rave with Tamra and Morgan.

MVP - Peter, for growing up.

Runner Up - Jeremy. You're not-so-subtle desperation is just adorable.

Lines I Love:

  • Mindy - It's not against the law if everybody does it. It's like how I pretend to be in the Armed Forces so I can board a plane early.

  • Mindy - That looks like something that Rihanna would wear to hedonism.

  • Annette - Dot and I are watching "Passion of the Christ." What they did to that man... poor Mel...

  • Danny - This is the worst thing you've ever done and I'm including when you thought that cab driver was the guy from "Captain Phillips."

  • Morgan - Dr. P, can I have your underwear if you're gonna leave? Mine's all soaking wet. It's not urine, it's sweat.

It is so refreshing to see Mindy and Danny as a functional couple dealing with regular problems. Well, regular in a sitcom world, but still, their drama involves their families and their workplace but their relationship is real and they work as a team. So take that, conventional sitcoms, no stereotypes here! I don't know how long Rhea Perlman's arc is for as Annette Castellano, but I sure hope it is for a long time. She is sheer perfection as an Italian Catholic mother.
