Malcolm (John Barrowman) is captured by Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable), but is Ollie's love for his sister Thea (Willa Holland) enough for the ARROW (Stephen Amell) to risk his own life to save him? Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) watches Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) SUIT UP as The Atom and we head into a couple of weeks of reruns with a cliffhanger in tonight's ep, "Nanda Parbat." Keep your eye on the target. We'll get you caught up.
We open with Ra's enjoying a relaxing soak. Nyssa (Katrina Law) enters to tell him Ollie is still alive. He already knows and doesn't care because he knows Ollie did not kill Sarah. Nyssa wants him dead.
In the lair, Malcolm is putting Ollie and Thea through their paces in sword training. Diggle (David Ramsey) interrupts the training to tell them the lair has been fortified. Malcolm wants Thea and Ollie to move into the lair, but neither want to abandon the loft they call home.
Flashback #1: Ollie is in China being debriefed by General Shrieve (Marc Singer). Ollie doesn't trust him, but Shrieve tells him now that the debriefing is over, he is free to go. They shake hands.
Roy (aka Arsenal, played by Colton Haynes) goes topside into the club to check out Diggle's security. It is super high-tech and fortified. Thea is sitting at the bar, deep in thought. Despite Ollie telling her not to tell anyone, she blabs to Roy that she killed Sarah. She is still racked with guilt.
Felicity drops by Ray's to find out why he hasn't shown up for a week to the company he owns. The stock is tanking as a result. He's been busy working on the Atom suit. She is less than thrilled about this.
And speaking of people less than thrilled of choices made, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) leaves a message for her dad Quentin (Paul Blackthorne). He's been avoiding her since finding out that she kept her sister's murder from him and also that she is now following in her sister's footsteps and moonlighting as Black Canaray II. Thea stops by to talk about Sarah. Thea tells Laurel that Malcolm drugged her and she killed Sarah. Laurel is understanding about the death (she was drugged and all), but is pissed Thea and Ollie continue to work alongside Malcolm given what Malcolm has done.
Back at the Lair, Ollie continues to train. Laurel arrives and confronts Ollie about how he continues to lie to her face about Sarah's killer and how he continues to work with Malcolm. Ollie returns to the loft and has a few choice words with Thea. Ollie is convinced the only way out of this is to continue to work with Malcolm. Thea tells him they are no longer in any danger, "but Malcolm is going to face justice."
She has sold her father out --but not to the League of Assasins, but rather Black Canary. Malcolm calls her moves sloppy (as he can hear her coming). She is no match for someone trained by the League, however. She tires herself out going after him, he continues to swat her away as if she is a fly. She pulls at gun at him, but before she can fire it the League shows up. Nyssa is particularly mad (Sarah was her lover) and she beat the crap out of him before finally knocking him unconscious. She tells Laurel is was honorable for her to want to avenger her sister's death, but she can rest now as Sarah's murder is now avenged.
Flashback #2: Ollie, Maseo and his family prepare to leave China. They come under gunfire. It appears Ollie was right not to trust the General.
Nyssa prepares to take her prisoner back to her father. ARROW arrives. Nyssa and he continue to fight, but the helicopter takes off with Malcolm on board.
Back in the Lair, Nyssa sits in a cell. Ollie is going to try and extract information about the location of Ra's al Ghul's hideout, Nanda Parbat. She freely gives up the information. Given his meddling in League affairs, she is confident Ollie is going to be killed there.
Felicity is worried she is right. Laurel also doesn't think he should go on the suicide mission. Ollie won't be desuaded, though.
Felicity makes another pitstop at Ray's pad. She's locked him out of the company servers. She can't stop one of her friends from getting himself killed, but she can stop Ray. She wants him to eat, shower and get some rest. If he does all that, she will give him the password.
Diggle borrows his wife's jet (well, she works for ARGUS, so technically it is ARGUS' plane) and Ollie prepares to depart. Thea begs him not to go. He tells her he has to live with the deaths of their parents on his hands, he won't let Thea have to live with causing her real father's death.
In Ra's al Ghul's palace, Malcolm begs for his life. Ra's tells him to face his death with honor (or at least dignity).
Back at Ray's pad, we hear the sounds of a shower and Felicity snoops around the place. There are paintings from various Dutch masters all over the walls. He comes out of the shower wrapped only in a towel. He borrows paintings he has given to the Starling City Museum every month and right now he's in a Dutch masters phase. He stands in front of her and she tries to avert her eyes as he thanks her for forcing him to eat, sleep and shower. She kisses him and apologizes. He kisses her back.
Diggle and Ollie arrive on the shores of Nanda Parbat. Diggle asks him again why they are doing this. Ollie remains focused on the mission. If patrol scouts see them, it's game over. And right after he says that, flaming arrows rain down upon them. Ollie's plan? Shoot more accurately then they do.
Flashback #3: Ollie, Maseo and family are taking cover. It's Amanda Waller's team shooting at them.
In the Lair, Laurel sits down for girl talk with Nyssa. Having Malcolm to hate is like having a bit of Sarah to hold on to. When he is killed, Laurel realizes she will have nothing left. She asks Nyssa if she can remember Sarah's laugh. Nyssa recounts when Ra's first demonstrated his full power to her. Most people quaked in fear, but Sarah laughed at the absurdity of it all. That is when Nyssa fell in love with her.
Ollie and Diggle infiltrate the compound and quickly take out a number of the League. Fortunately for Malcolm, Ollie placed a tracker on him. They find him hanging barefoot above hot coals. Ollie moves to take him down and Malcolm utters "trap." Iron bars fall, trapping them.
Ollie awakes to find himself and Diggle shackled to the floor. Diggle tells him he knows it is more than just being about Thea. Ollie admits that he is haunted by his earlier defeat. Diggle ask Oliver to be his best man. Diggle, at least, is certain they are going to break out of their cell and return home unharmed. Maseo enters the cell to tell Oliver "it's time."
Flashback #4 Maseo and his wife are separated from Ollie and Maseo's son. He tells Ollie to get his son out of there. Ollie throws the boy over his shoulder and runs.
Roy and Thea sit parked in his car. They are parked outside of the home of the family of the cop that Roy killed when he was on drugs. He leaves cash, groceries and gifts at Christmas. Thea tells him Sarah and the cop are not the same. She blames herself for letting Malcolm into her life. She knew the kind of man he was even before he drugged her and yet, she still trained with him. So, she does bare some of the responsibility of Sarah's death.
Felicity is asleep in Ray's arms (the kissing appears to have progressed into his bed). He is deep in thought, rises suddenly and returns to his computers. He finishes the final modifications, suits up and then flies off.
In the lair, Thea unlocks Nyssa's cage and hands her her sword. She tells her that she is the one who fired the arrows into Sarah.
In Ra's al Ghul's private chambers, Ollie tells Ra's to kill him, but spare Diggle. Ra's tells him he has no intention of killing Ollie. He wants Ollie to become the next Ra's al Ghul.
