FX's highly anticipated medieval drama THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER kicks off this week with its two-hour series premiere event. Set in 14th century Wales, the epic follows Wilkin Brattle, played by newcomer Lee Jones, a former warrior now turned executioner who traverses a world dominated by religion, politics, and violence, while struggling to protect his own identity and seek a greater destiny.
In the series premiere, the stage is set for harrowing twists and turns, with cruel barons exerting their rule over restless peasants desperately clinging to faith and family. Tensions reach their boiling point as the ruling class continues to put unrelenting pressure on the humble farmers living peacefully in their fiefdoms. Wilk and his wife Petra eagerly await the birth of their first child, as Wilk suffers from recurring dreams of the warfare he thinks he's left behind him. When he is convinced to join his friends in undermining the royals' brutal taxation, consequences of their rebellion are merciless, and Wilk's life is altered forever.
From the same mind that brought us SONS OF ANARCHY, many are wondering if this latest Kurt Sutter series will fill the void that the biker drama's December 2014 finale left behind. Promising plenty of blood, intrigue, and questionable loyalty,THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER stars SONS alums Katey Sagal, Timothy V. Murphy, and Sutter himself, along with TRUE BLOOD's Stephen Moyer, and airs TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 at 10:00PM, E.T. on FX.
