Four of the actresses in the category for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy competed in the same category last year. In fact, this year's seven actresses have combined for 21 nominations and three previous wins.
Theatre fans might remember Jane Krakowski from her work in seven Broadway shows from 1987-2003, beginning with the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's STARLIGHT EXPRESS. She was nominated for her first Tony for 1989's GRAND HOTEL, and she was nominated again in 2003 for the Antonio Banderas-led NINE revival, for which she won her first Tony. She can be seen in the video of GRAND HOTEL's performance at the 1990 Tony Awards, which is one of the greatest performances in the award show's history.
While GLEE, of course, holds a special place in the hearts of many musical theate lovers, Jane Lynch recently went one step further when she made her Broadway debut as Miss Hannigan in the current revival of ANNIE. At this summer's Tonys, Lynch wowed the audience with her rendition of "Little Girls."
