Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, has acquired the North American rights to the boxing-themed drama EL GALLO. EL GALLO debuts on VOD and will be available to rent and own on digital HD across cable, internet, and satellite platforms through Freestyle Digital Media on January 16, 2018.

EL GALLO tells the story of Rafael "El Gallo" Diaz (New York-based actor Monte Bezell) who used to be a prominent fighter once upon a time. After losing his nerve in the middle of a fight he left boxing for good, resorting to a new life as a drug runner. As he struggles to make ends meet and support his young daughter he is approached by a local mob boss to take one more fight. With his back against THE WALL Rafael revisits the past, looks to his future, and experiences a newfound love. Sometimes the fight extends BEYOND THE RING and the final bell.

Written by Joel Luna and directed by Monte Bezell and Ali Abouomar, EL GALLO features an ensemble cast including: Joel Luna ('Javier'), José Ramón Rosario ('Don Felipe'), Francesca Van Horne ('Camilla'), Carolina Ravassa ('Sonia'), Lara Goldie ('Erin'), Manny Alfaro ('Don Pedro'), Chris LaPanta ('Flanigan'), and Abraham Makany ('Luis')

Freestyle Digital Media Vice President of Acquisitions, Dan Fisher, negotiated the deal for EL GALLO with Glen Reynolds and Sebastian Twardosz of Circus World Films.

In an exclusive statement to Broadway World, Monte Bezell said, "It's great to see EL GALLO get the home it properly deserves. Freestyle has been a great partner and is the best fit for our movie. A prime example of championing independent filmmaking."
