This week on BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, the precinct has to kill time when the Serbian President's motorcade to Brooklyn gets delayed. This prompts Jake to launch "The Jimmy Jab Games," which is an annual series of competitions in the precinct. Read through for all you need to know about this week's episode, but be warned there are SPOILERS!
The episode starts off with the 9-9 on motorcade duty. Jake asks Rosa for her friend Katie's number, and she tells him that if he asks her about it again, he'll have to eat with a straw. Ouch. Jake tells Boyle he doesn't have feelings for Amy anymore. (Doubtful.)
Holt tells the precinct that the Serbian President is delayed 3 hours and that he and Terry have to leave. Jake takes this opportunity to tell the team that they will be having The Jimmy Jab Games, appropriately titled Jimmy Jab 7: The Circus of Fools. Terry and Holt have a meeting with Deputy Chief Wuntch, and Holt is preparing him for "The War on Wuntch." Jake tries to use The Jimmy Jab Games to play Rosa for Katie's number. They make a bet, and if Jake wins he gets the number, and if he loses, he'll give Rosa $200 and he'll never ask her again. Boyle tells Gina that he lost a tape that has them on it. Holt and Terry leave, and the minute the elevator closes the games commence with "the ceremonial bagel," aka a bagel he lit on fire and threw into a garbage can.
The Jimmy Jabs have begun. The first event is "The Mouth-athon." They have month old chinese food and whoever eats the most wins. Charles is eliminated. Meanwhile, Holt and Terry meet with Wuntch to talk to her about "giggle pig" the new form of ectasy that they are trying to combat. One typo and Wuntch denies the request, but Holt uses the missplaced semi-colon to use against her. He set up a meeting with Wuntch's boss and is planning on telling him how she denied a reasonable request.
Boyle asks Hitchcock for the tape back, but he says he'll only give it to him if Boyle makes him look cool. Boyle and Scully are out. The next event is the "Bulky Bulky Run Run." Hitchcock falls and is out. The next event is going "undercover" and talking to as many cops as they can before they are recognized. Santiago only gets through 2 people and loses. Rosa gets elimanted because she only gets through one person, so Amy is still in, and it's Amy and Jake in the finals! Rosa gives Jake the chance to call off the bet, because she thinks he's still into Amy. She tells Jake to prove it by beating Amy and not flirting with her at all.
Boyle brings Hitchock to Jake, and now Hitchcock wants Boyle to tell everyone he thinks Hitchcock is handsome. Holt and Terry meets with Wuntch's boss, and Wuntch shows up. Wuntch's boss gives them a task force and Wuntch tells Holt she got him riled up so that he'd get an expensive task force during budget cuts, and he'll have to get big arrests to prove it was worth it. It's the finals of the Jimmy Jabs: the Obstacle Course! It's Jake vs. Amy, and Amy wins! Just as Amy wins, Holt and Terry come back and make them clean up their mess. Boyle breaks into Hitchcock's locker and Hitchcock tells him the tape is on him, so Boyle jumps him. The Serbian President is here, so they are back on motorcade duty. Jake tells Rosa he let Amy win by not shutting the elevator door, because he is not over her.
Rosa gets in Jake's squad car to talk about Amy. She tells Jake it's not like him to get hung up on a girl, and he needs to move on and she gives him Katie's number. Holt tells Terry he needs the task force to succeed, but there is no one in the precinct to lead it. Terry tells Holt that he let Wuntch distract him from their purpose, and that Rosa should lead the task force because there is no B.S. with her.
And with that, this year's Jimmy Jab Games are over! This episode was great, and I would love to see the games expanded into a longer episode, because there is just so much they could do with it. It reminds me of Community's paintball, so maybe they'll follow suit and do a two-part episode on it next season!
In this episode we also find out that Jake still likes Amy, no shock there, but it was nice to see him actually admit to it, he's definitely maturing. I know that the two of them getting together is inevitable, but I wonder how long it will take to see a Jake-Amy coupling. Amy definitely seems interested, but she's still with Teddy, and the fact that she chose him over Jake shows that it isn't something she is seriously considering for the time being. (I'm pulling for you, Jake!) I also liked how in this episode Terry told Holt how it is and asserted himself. The dynamic between Holt and Terry is one I really enjoy because they are both very honorable men and they want what is best for the precinct.
Finally, Boyle and Gina are still hooking up! All I am saying is it starts as meaningless hook-ups and ends with one of two things: a relationship or someone getting hurt. Even though Boyle and Gina dating would be super weird, I'd prefer it to one of them getting their heart broken, because I love both characters so much! I guess we will have to wait and see what happens!
