BLOOMIN MUD SHUFFLE

(Frank V. Ross | USA | 75 min.)

If you're looking for Lonnie (James Ransone, TANGERINE), the forlorn thirty-something house-painter at the center of Frank V. Ross' BLOOMIN MUD SHUFFLE, you'll likely find him at the local watering hole, in the same Chicago suburb he grew up in, working the same dead-end job alongside his old friend from high school. Through his days of idle chatter and nights of endless booze, Lonnie is heartsick, pining for his college-aged co-worker who is hesitant to take their strictly physical relationship to the next level.

As with his six previous features-including Rooftop alum TIGER TAIL IN BLUE, which screened at Rooftop in 2013 -Frank V. Ross proves once again to be an unsung hero of American independent cinema, infusing trademark wit and hard-bitten honesty in a tale of such subtle drama it seems wrangled out of thin air.
