According to The Hollywood Reporter, a spin-off of the hit ABC series BLACK-ISH, featuring Yara Shahidi's Zoey Johnson is heading to Freeform. The series will focus on Zoey's attempts to navigate her way through college life.

The project was originally set to air on ABC but "skewed too young" for its target audience. FreeForm will likely give a full series order to the new series.

Yara Shahidi stars as popular teen Zoey Johnson, an ambitious, technologically infatuated high school junior in the multi-award-winning ABC comedy series. Since the series debuted in September 2014, Yara has been awarded an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, nominated for a Teen Choice Award, and is the recipient of a 2016 Gracie Award for Female in a Breakthrough Role.
