Last week was Jimmy's week to shine. He was thrown to the wolves with the whole Nacho situation, and he had to figure out a plan that would keep his client out of prison. Sure, he may have had to throw some other, would've-been-clients (that's you, Kettlemans) under the proverbial bus, but hey, a lawyer's gotta do what a lawyer's gotta do, am I right?

Last week's episode also showcased Jimmy's budding friendship - or at least, budding tolerance - with Mike Ehrmantraut. Finally, the Dynamic Duo begins to realize that they don't actually hate each other! Only good things can come from this relationship, people! Well, mostly good things. Ok, fine, terrible, horrible things happen in the end, but that's a long way away, so let's just enjoy this adorable partnership while we can.

Tonight, we dive even further into Jimmy's relationships, and we start to explore how this whole "I'm a real lawyer!" thing impacts his day-to-day interactions with those he loves.

Join me right here and on Twitter @CourtHenley tonight at 10:00 PM as I live recap the West Coast airing of BETTER CALL SAUL's newest episode!

10:01 : Now that's a shirt, Jimmy.

10:02 : WAIT. SAUL GOODMAN. S'ALL GOOD, MAN! I GET IT!

This whole intro is making me so happy right now. I may steal that butthole song that guy's singing. You never know when it may come in handy.

10:06 : Oh, he knew the butthole song guy! I like it!

Also, I was waiting for the drugs to make an appearance. Any high quality BREAKING BAD spinoff will throw in some drugs.

10:11 : Yeah, Kettlemans, what were you planning to do? How were you going to explain that to your kids? Tell us!

It's interesting that Saul is helping the Kettlemans even though they were technically his enemies in the last episode. After all, he was fighting for Nacho, who was being blamed for kidnapping them (even though they weren't kidnapped). I see that spark of good in you, Jimmy!

Oh. It's gone. Or is it? You're quite the crafty one...taking the money as a retainer.

10:14 : "You're the kind of lawyer guilty people hire."

I guess there won't be a retainer then, huh?

Poor guy. Deep down, he's a good man, but he's greedy and desperate to get ahead, and he'll do whatever he can - even if that means doing the not-so-right thing.

10:17 : Uh oh, Jimmy. Think fast. Nacho knows you warned them. He doesn't care about the kids. He's just mad that Jimmy ruined his plan.

10:20 : "Upon this rock, I will build my church."

What a gem of a line. Hiding this money is the first in a line of crimes (of increasing severity) that are yet to come. This is a foundation for his future. Here, he decides the kind of lawyer he's going to be, and the kind of clientele he's going to target. That church of yours is going to grow quicker than you think, Jimmy.

10:25 : Moving on up in the world with that suit purchase, aren't we, Jimmy?

10:30 : An almost identical copy of Hamlin's law firm ads? Genius, Jimmy. Genius.

Also, side note: those massage chairs are lookin' pretty good right about now. Maybe I should consider relocating to a nail salon.

Aww, Jimmy cares! Of course he cares. He's a good guy. A good guy who is ready to fight jerks.

10:40 : Hamlindigo. That's like when Oprah named a crayon after her. There is a crayon color named for Oprah, right? Or am I making that up?

But back to the show. Sorry, Jimmy. I agree, it is a David vs. Goliath situation, but you know you were trying to copy him. I'm on your side, but they're right here.

For now, though, keep trying those papers. I'm sure you'll find someone willing to bite.

10:45 : I'm liking the direction of this little video. It's very Saul of Jimmy - trying to manipulate other peoples' emotions to feel bad for the guilty man. Sure, it's on a different level completely from his BREAKING BAD antics, but it's still the same basic scheme.

OH SHOOT, MAN DOWN! Or rather...MAN...ALMOST DOWN!

10:48 : Now he's a hero. There's no way that billboard's coming down. What a lovely scheme.

Seven messages. THAT'S what I'm talking about. Business is booming already!

10:57 : Aww, poor Chuck, he's so proud of Jimmy. Too bad everything Jimmy is saying to him is a lie. Hence his hiding of the Albuquerque newspaper featuring his story.

Uh oh. Jimmy didn't consider this. Chuck's gone into full foil blanket mode. This can't be good. At least, not for Jimmy. For Chuck, I'd say leaving the house is a huge improvement.

HA! What a gem of the scene. I'm not sure which was better: the old lady looking at Chuck out of her window, or the retro sci-fi noises in the background.

One thing I do know: Chuck's disappointed. Big time.

Tonight's episode was absolutely less action-packed than the past few, but we got to explore Jimmy's relationships even further. We're building characters here, people! We're building awesome, multi-layered characters who will grow and change as the season goes on, and because we know about them, we will care about them. Which is exactly why this show will be so so good.
