BBC America Earns Eight Emmy Nominations for KILLING EVE, ORPHAN BLACK, and BLUE PLANET II Image

Announced this morning by the Television Academy, BBC America earned eight Emmy® nominations for its critical and fan favorite Killing Eve, highly-acclaimed drama Orphan Black, and groundbreaking series Blue Planet II.

Sarah Barnett, BBC America President, commented, "Our gratitude to the phenomenal artists behind Killing Eve, ORPHAN BLACK and Blue Planet II is huge. We couldn't ask for a better talent line-up at BBCA than Sandra Oh, Tatiana Maslany, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Sir David Attenborough and the creative teams behind them. We're so grateful to the Television Academy for these nominations."

This is KILLING EVE star and associate producer Sandra Oh's sixth Emmy® nomination - and her first as lead actress - and the series' executive producer and lead writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge's first nomination.

Sally Woodward Gentle, executive producer of Killing Eve, said, "I am over the moon and feeling a little bit nauseous with excitement about the nominations for the extraordinary Sandra Oh and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Extraordinary women in a show of many extraordinary women. And men, of course. We are delighted that the Emmys have recognized our wild, rather weird British show."

Sandra Oh, star and associate producer, Killing Eve, commented, "I feel tremendous gratitude and joy with this nomination. I am thrilled for Phoebe Waller-Bridge's nomination and for the entire cast/crew of Killing Eve. I share this moment with my community. P.S., I think my mother at this moment may actually be satisfied."

Killing Eve's executive producer and lead writer, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, commented, "This is the most incredible news. Thank you to the entire KILLING EVE team, cast, fans and everyone who voted for us! I can't. Get. Over. It. A HUGE and special shout out to the incredible Luke Jennings who wrote the original novellas. Thank god he has a thing for fictional murderous women."

Killing Eve capped its incredible first season with an unbroken record of weekly ratings growth in the key adults 25-54 and 18-49 demos - something no other show on television has accomplished in more than a decade. The series was commissioned in 2016 for BBC America by President and GM Sarah Barnett, and Nena Rodrigue, EVP of Original Programming, Acquisitions and Production; executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Colin Wratten produced and Sandra Oh served as associate producer. The series is produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd and distributed by Endeavor Content. Season two was picked up before the first season premiered on BBCA, and will begin production this summer.

Tatiana Maslany of BBC America original series, Orphan Black, received her third Emmy® nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for the complex multi-character performance of a young woman who discovers she is a clone - 13 in total. She won the Emmy for the role in 2016.

Star and producer, Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany, commented, "This is completely unexpected and a wonderful surprise to be remembered. As always, this nomination is dedicated to the Clone Club for their loyal and rabid support! This is an amazing send off for our final season. It meant so much to all of us who worked on the show for it to resonate with people. Thank you very much to the Academy for the recognition. So excited to be sharing the category with all these amazing women. So happy Sandra Oh's phenomenal work is being recognized!!"

BBC AMERICA's natural history landmark series Blue Planet II earned five Emmy® nominations, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Narrator for Sir David Attenborough.

Executive Producer, Blue Planet II, James Honeyborne, said "Blue Planet II has made a global impact, raising awareness of the drama, beauty and fragility of our oceans. We're thrilled to receive these nominations from the Television Academy. Thank you, on behalf of our entire team - who have worked tirelessly over four years to deliver amazing new stories - in a TV series that's filmed on every continent and across every ocean."
