Cinefugitivo's award-winning indie, Tiger Lily Road will play its second New York festival in as many months - the 2014 Manhattan Film Festival on June 26th.
Writer/director, Michael Medeiros pursued this female driven dark comedy in light of the large and underserved market for women's stories on the screen. "The women are right here," says Medeiros, in response to recent articles in the media about the lack of meaningful women's roles in film. "If the studios aren't greenlighting these films, then it's up to us and maybe that's a good thing."
In this edgy, modern fairytale two best friends, Annie & Louise capture a handsome drifter who breaks into their house to escape a snowstorm and the law. Emmy winner, Tom Pelphrey, is forced to share the snow bound cottage with three generations of women, including Karen Chamberlain (Inside Amy Schumer), Ilvi Dulack (Brilliant Mistakes) and Rita Gardner (the original "girl" in The Fantastiks). Golden Globe nominee, Tom Nardini, Sarah Shaefer (Yelling To The Sky) and veteran, William Hill (Gran Torino) round out the main cast.
Tiger Lily Road (89 min) screens at 3pm, Thursday, June 26th at Quad Cinemas . Tickets can be purchased through the Manhattan Film Festival [website:
www.manhattanff.com]. There will be a post-screening Q&A with the director and cast.
