In an interview with TVGuide.com, PRIVATE PRACTICE creator Shonda Rhimes revealed that she would love to feature a musical episode in the upcoming season of the ABC medical drama. Commented Rhimes, "the writers and I have approached this season as a no-holds-barred, all-bets-off season. Every episode will be special. Some of it's going to be hilarious and some of it's going to be heartbreaking."
Rhimes would not comment officially about the notion of a musical episode similar to the one which aired on ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' last season. However she did admit that she would love to lure Broadway's Audra McDonald back to revise her role of Naomi, the character she portrayed for several seasons of the show. Gushed Rhimes, "The musical talent on Private Practice is equally stunning [as Grey's]."
Along with five-time Tony-winner McDonald, the talented cast features former "Rent" star Taye Diggs, Paul Adelstein, who recently released an album, and actress Amy Brenneman who, according to Rhimes, can "shake a good tambourine."
The creator also teased that the upcoming season would feature "a death, some babies, a likely return of a favorite and there could possibly be a wedding."
