According to the Hollywood Reporter, actor Ashton Kutcher, star of the CBS comedy TWO AND A HALF MEN, has announced that he will be taking an indefinite break from his twitter account after a recent comment regarding disgraced Penn State football coach Joe Paterno ignited a storm of controversy.

Yesterday, the actor posted a comment on his twitter account regarding Paterno which read, "How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste,"

Paterno, who has coached the Penn State football team for 46 years, was fired on Wednesday amidst a scandal involving child sex-abuse.  The university's president, Graham Spanier was also let go.  Paterno had been criticized for failing to properly contact authorities when he was told about possible misconduct by his assistant, Jerry Sandusky nine years ago.

After hearing more of the facts of the case, Kutcher regrettably deleted his original tweet and replaced it with, "#admitwhenYoumakemistakes, As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case."

After a host of recent issues with his twitter remarks, Kutcher informed fans yesterday that he had decided to take an indefinite break from the social media. "As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won't happen again," he tweeted last night.

Kutcher was known as one of the most popular users of Twitter and was the first to reach 1 million followers in 2009. Lady Gaga now holds the record with more than 15 million followers, with pop star Justin Bieber close behind with over 14 million followers.
