According to Deadline, Apple has ordered a new drama series from Academy Award winning director Damien Chazelle (La La Land). Chazelle is scheduled to write and direct the series. Justin Horowitz (La La Land) will serve as Executive Producer along with Fred Berger under his Automatik banner. The series will be produced by MRC (House of Cards, Counterpart) and will be the Chazelle's second venture into television.
Damien Chazelle is best known for his work directing the 2016 hit movie musical La La Land which took home six Academy Awards including Best Director (Chazelle) and Best Actress (Emma Stone), along with seven Golden Globe Awards, including Best Screenplay (Chazelle). Chazelle also garnered recognition with his 2014 film Whiplash, which obtained five Oscar nominations. Along with this project, Chazelle is also working on a musical drama series (The Eddy) for Netflix and the Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy led First Man produced by Universal.
Apple has gathered a starry lineup for it's original series including the works of Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Kristen Wiig. Apple's streaming service is currently available and offers a large selection of movies and original shows that can be instantly streamed.
