Anthony LaPaglia to Return to CBS in Drama Pilot RED ZONE

Deadline reports that Anthony LaPaglia will return to the CBS network to star in an upcoming drama pilot titled RED ZONE. The pilot was penned by Nikki Toscano and directed by James Foley. The 'Without a Trace' actor will join previously announced cast members Graham Rogers (Revolution) and David Castro.

Red Zone follows Holden Weller (LaPaglia), "a retired CIA operative and intense High School Football coach/athletic director who is pulled back into action when a terrorist event rocks Washington, D.C., forced to investigate closer to home where the next rogersgeneration of terrorists is being bred."

Rogers will portray Jake, described as "an all-American teenager and second-string quarterback who has a special bond with Coach Weller," while Castro plays Reza, "a smart and thoughtful new student at the high school who has just transferred there to play baseball."

LaPaglia rose to stardom with a mix of classic roles on stage and screen including On the Open Road at The Public Theater, So I Married an Axe Murderer with Mike Myers, The Rose Tattoo on Broadway with Mercedes Ruehl, The Client with Susan Sarandon, and Lantana for which he won the prestigious Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor, culminating with his Tony Award-winning Turn in Arthur Miller's 1998 revival of A View from the Bridge.

He recently starred in the Ken Ludwig comedy 'Lend Me a Tenor', co starring Tony Shalhoub, Justin Bartha, Brooke Adams, Mary Catherine Garrison, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jay Klaitz, and Jan Maxwell.

In addition to his starring TV role on "Without a Trace", LaPaglia received an Emmy Award for his guest starring appearance on NBC's "Frasier."
