Random Unrelated Projects, the first feature film by award-winning independent filmmaker/playwright Aaron Mark (Zbornik Developing, Commentary), featuring a cast of Broadway veterans, will be screened on Saturday, July 2nd at 9:00 PM at Anthology Film Archives as part of NewFilmmakers New York (newfilmmakers.com).

This idiosyncratic black and white film, which won Best Experimental Feature when it premiered at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, features Anne L. Nathan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Assassins, Sunday in the Park with George), Kristine Zbornik (A Catered Affair, Forbidden Broadway), Adam Heller (Victor/Victoria, Caroline, or Change), Gerry McIntyre (Commentary, Once On This Island), Frank Vlastnik (A Year With Frog and Toad), Katie Klaus (Commentary, A Catered Affair), and Steve Routman (The Fantasticks, La Bete), as well as Jared Joseph (Dreamgirls), Nesha Ward (The Color Purple), April Evans, and Zachary Isaacson (Commentary).

Comprised of three short films, these random unrelated stories (an anonymous suicide threat, a gay man marrying a woman, and a social networking website mishap) share nothing other than their author, Manhattan, and many of the same actors. Shot in 2008 for $9,000 over 11 days, the film is a throwback to the indie heyday of John Cassavetes and John Waters.

Random Unrelated Projects runs 91 minutes and will be screened on Saturday, July 2nd at 9 PM at Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Ave at 2nd St.). Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the door.

Aaron Mark is twenty-four years old and recently finished shooting his third independent feature film, Commentary, currently in post-production. As a writer, he has had readings of his plays, Failed Suicide Attempts (with Faith Prince), fing Wagner (with Michael Cerveris and Leslie Kritzer), Plays With Landline Phones, and Dead Agenting (with Tom Hewitt), the first of which was presented by the Blank Theatre in Hollywood as part of their Living Room Series. He directed Hedwig and the Angry Inch at New World Stages for BC/EFA, Space Oddity/Ziggy Stardust with Sarah Much at The Producers Club and has shot in-studio footage for Sh-K-Boom Records. aaronmark.net (not aaronmark.com, which belongs to a German porn star with the same name).
