Anne Hathaway is set to star in Robert Zemeckis and Warner Bros.' "The Witches" adaptation, according to Variety.
Hathaway will play the Grand High Witch, the role originally portrayed by Anjelica Huston in the 1990 classic.
Based on the 1973 novel, the film follows a 7-year-old boy who has a run in with real-life witches. The book was previously adapted in 1990 by Warner Bros. with Huston, but Zemeckis' version will follow more closely the original source material, whereas the Huston film was a looser adaptation.
Zemeckis will write the film's script and produce with his partner Jack Rapke through their banner ImageMovers, along with Alfonso Cuaron and Guillermo del Toro.
Hathaway is currently filming the untitled DuPont film at Participant. She was last seen in the "Ocean's 11" spinoff, "Ocean's 8." She can next be seen in "Serenity" and "The Hustle." She recently wrapped production on the Netflix drama "The Last Thing He Wanted."
