Annapurna Pictures has dropped the FOX News-Roger Ailes film just two weeks before production is set to begin, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Sources say that Bron Studios has come on to co-finance production while Focus Features, Amblin and Participant Media are in the mix to acquire.
There is no clear reason why Annapurna dropped the film.
The move comes as a surprise, since just yesterday it was announced that Malcolm McDowell had signed on to play Rupert Murdoch.
The film is set to star John Lithgow as disgraced Fox News chairman who was accused of sexually harassing many women at the network. Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Gretchen Carlson were also cast in the film.
Annapurna was planning to distribute the film, since it had been financing and producing the project.
