The upcoming X-Men film has lost its 'Rogue'.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST director Bryan Singer revealed that the editing team has nixed a rescue scene featuring Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Shawn Ashmore as Iceman and Anna Paquin as Rogue. Because this was Paquin's only scene in the film, she will no longer be part of the project.

"Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go," Singer told EW, adding that Paquin had nothing to do with the decision. "She did a fantastic job. She was awesome in the sequence."

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will hit theaters on May 23, 2014.

The movie stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence. Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage and Shawn Ashmore.

The film will act as something of a sequel to 'First Class'. Days of Future Past is taken from two issues of Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men in 1981. The story was set in an alternate future in which surviving mutants were confined to concentration camps, while most of the X-Men had been killed. In order to stop this dismal future from unfolding, the X-Men had to stop a specific event from occurring in the past.

True Blood star Paquin has also appeared on the big screen in Free Ride, Straight A's, Margaret, Scream 4, The Romantics, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2, Darkness, Finding Forrester, Almost Famous, X-men, She's All That, Jane Eyre and more.
