Angus Macfadyen's directorial debut 'Macbeth Unhinged' boasts an all star cast and premieres at the Edinburgh International Film Festival Known for a whole host of popular US shows and blockbuster films, Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen makes his directorial debut with MacBeth Unhinged, a modern twist on the Shakespeare classic. This exciting film will premiere in June at theEdinburgh International Film Festival and stars familiar faces from the hit TV show TURN: Washington's Spies including;Seth Numrich, Taylor Roberts, Angus Macfadyen and Kevin McNally, as well as Harry Lennix (The Blacklist). Macbeth Unhinged is a modern retelling of the classic Shakespeare play, set in a stretch limousine, which marauds through an abandoned modern American city, as its ambitious queen and increasingly isolated King lose their minds behind the tinted windows of elitist opportunity, and as the fabric of society becomes unhinged and falls apart before our eyes.
Writer/director Angus Macfadyen rose to fame playing Robert the Bruce in Braveheart and has remained on our screens ever since, just some of his starring TV roles include TURN: Washington Spies, The Pinkertons, Chuck, andCalifornication. Macfayden has led roles with some of the greatest talents in Hollywood, including starring roles in project's such as Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood opposite Sandra Bullock, Equilibrium with Christian Bale, Julie Taymor's Titus alongside Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Tim Robbins' Cradle Will Rock. In recent years was a role in We Bought a Zoo, written and directed by Academy Award-Winner Cameron Crowe. Angus also completed filming a third season as a series regular on AMC's Turn and in the can is a starring role in Lost City Of Z, directed by James Gray, with Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller and Tom Holland, for Plan B.
Starring in this modern tale the stellar cast includes; Angus Macfadyen as MacBeth, Seth Numrich (Turn) as MacDuff,Taylor Roberts (Turn) as Lady Macbeth, Kevin McNally (Downtown Abbey) as Duncan and Harry Lennix (The Blacklist) as Banquo.
Macbeth Unhinged was produced by VCUArts and VA film Office. The film will premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on June 16th at 20:35 at Odeon 4 and the 26th June at 18:15 at Filmhouse 3.
