As BWW reported earlier this week, new SNL cast member Brooks Wheelan tweeted that he had been fired from the long-running NBC sketch comedy series. A day later, it was revealed that cast members Noël Wells, John Milhiser and Nasim Pedrad had also been axed for next season.
Andy Samberg, who appeared as a featured cast member on the show from 2005 and 2012 showed his support to the comics at yesterday's Television Critics Association, where he was promoting his new FOX series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
"If you were hired ... there's something good going on with you," he offered. He also joked about the differences between starring on SNL and his new TV sitcom. "When I order a coffee, it comes sooner because I don't have to wait for 30 other people's coffees. Other than that it's almost exactly the same."
Samberg served as a guest host on last season's SNL. He recently picked up a Golden Globe Award for best actor in a television series musical or comedy for "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
