Oscar, Emmy and multiple Golden Globe award nominee Andy Garcia ("The Godfather Part III", "For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story") and Grammy Award-winning Mandy Moore ("Tangled", "The Princess Diaries") join previously announced Mary-Louise Parker (Emmy and Golden Globe winner for "Angels in America"; Golden Globe Award for "Weeds"; Tony Award for "Proof") in the Hallmark Hall of Fame film Christmas in Conway, which begins shooting August 5 in Wilmington, North Carolina.
When it premieres on ABC later this year, "Christmas in Conway" will become the 250th presentation of the iconic Hallmark Hall of Fame.
Andy Garcia plays Duncan Mayor, who decides the perfect Christmas present for his beloved - but ailing - wife, Suzy (played by Parker), is a ride on a real-deal Ferris wheel, set up in their own back yard. Why? Because it was while riding one year earlier that Duncan asked Suzy to marry him.
Mandy Moore is Suzy's nurse, Natalie. Natalie and Suzy develop a deep bond almost immediately. Not so for Natalie and Duncan, he's a bit of a curmudgeon and at least initially resents the time and attention his wife pays to her soul-mate nurse.
But love is in the air, and not just between Suzy and Duncan. Natalie and a young landscape designer who's helping Duncan assemble the giant Ferris wheel also fall under the intoxicating spell of romance.
Christmas in Conway is directed by John Kent Harrison (The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler, When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story). The script is by Stephen P. Lindsey (Hachi: A Dog's Tale) and Luis Ugaz. Brent Shields (Remember Sunday, The Makeover) and Howard Koch Jr. (Source Code, Gorky Park) are the executive producers.
