With pathbreaking rulings on issues such as same-sex marriage, affirmative action, voting rights, and genetic patenting set to be issued throughout the month, NBC News and MSNBC announced today a partnership with the Publisher of SCOTUSblog (Supreme Court of the United States blog) for coverage of the upcoming Supreme Court decisions.
As part of this collaboration, SCOTUSblog Publisher Tom Goldstein will contribute as a Supreme Court analyst across
NBC News and
MSNBC on-air programs, and will contribute editorially to NBCNews.com and tv.msnbc.com through the duration of the current Supreme Court session. SCOTUSblog's live coverage of the Court's rulings will also be featured on NBCNews.com.
Goldstein, who has argued 28 cases at the High Court and teaches at Harvard Law School, joins
NBC News Justice Correspondent Pete Williams to provide in-depth coverage and analysis of these historic decisions in real time.
"SCOTUSblog has become the go-to online source for news and analysis of the US Supreme Court, read by anyone looking for dependable information - including the justices themselves," said Williams. "The insight of Tom Goldstein will enhance our coverage."
"It is an honor to work so closely with
NBC News and Pete Williams during such a historic time at the Supreme Court," said Goldstein. "Bringing SCOTUSblog to the attention of the network's huge and well-informed audience is a tremendous opportunity for us."
Widely regarded as a top destination for Supreme Court news, SCOTUSblog has an established reputation for extensive reporting on complex and high-profile rulings such as the Affordable Care Act. This year, the site became the first blog to ever receive the Peabody Award for excellence in electronic media. Goldstein co-founded SCOTUSblog with Amy Howe in 2002.
